Ok, so that episode, at the end, where we're waiting anxiously to see if Lake and Michelle arrive before the hippies penalty runs out - Lake and Michelle would have got the same penalty, so why did they play up the tension like that? It was just stupid.
And the "Da Vinci Code" product placement was just stupid. Otherwise a pretty good leg.

Well, I was really enjoying Lake and Michelle, before this week. I thought they were entertaining, and I thought the talk of him being "verbally abusive" was overplayed.
But then he said "shut up, bitch" and there is no excuse for that.
I can only hope that either MOJO or Ray and Yolanda win. Yes, Ray and Yolanda are boring, but I would probably be boring on the race too. I'd rather have that, then the hippies, who think they are funny, but really are not.

As always, if you want on or off this ping list, just let me know.

Catching up with 'Amazing Race' jerk
By TARA MERRIN - Calgary Sun
Lake Garner wants to apologize. Not to viewers of The Amazing Race, who likely loved watching him lose his temper over and over again on the popular reality series, but to his wife, Michelle.
In fact, the Mississippi dentist is doing what all good husbands should do when they wrong their wives -- he's buying her a new car.
"The other day, when it aired, he again said, 'I really want to apologize for the way I acted,'" says Michelle.
"He truly is not that volatile in real life," she says in reference to last week's episode in which Lake swore at her.
"He really is a great guy -- he just doesn't handle stress as well as other people."
After spending more time battling each other than their opponents, married parents Lake and Michelle got lost in Greece and were eliminated from the race.
"We had a map that had two choices... we chose the wrong one. We headed down to the coastline and the coastline was about two-and-a-half hours out of the way," says Michelle.
"We stopped probably every three minutes, but nobody ever heard of where we were trying to get to. It was just not meant to be."
While getting lost was annoying, the biggest disappointment for the couple was learning it was not a non-elimination leg.
"We were pretty surprised. Lake handled it really well, but I didn't," says Michelle. "I was really heartbroken -- I wasn't finished racing."
Since returning home to Hattiesburg, a town of 5,000, Lake says he and Michelle have been treated like mini- celebrities.
And despite his explosive episodes on the show, people have been very kind to him.
"It's been real positive, which is good because I might not react too good if it wasn't," he jokes.
While Lake is embarrassed by some of his behaviour on the Race, he says it made him one of the most popular contestants this season.
This, he says, could help him get another shot at the game and its $1 million US top prize.
"I hope they have an all-stars (season) because we feel we'd have a really good chance at being on that.
"We feel like we are one of the more popular teams, so maybe they would ask us," he says. "That would be great."
The Amazing Race 9 airs tonight at 9 p.m. on CTV and CBS.

Lake thinks he's memorable enough to get on an Amazing Race All-Stars? Sheesh. If they want "obnoxious jerk who treats his wife badly" they'll just ask Jonathan and Victoria back.
On the other hand, TAR All-Stars might be fun. I'd love to see, say, Eric and Jeremy this season get humiliated trying to race against some of the teams from the past. Like the lawyers who won the first race. They were awesome.

Ewww, please no. If I ever see those people again I'll spit. It's not their fault, I just don't like that they're randomly famous for winning Survivor.
I think reality shows should act like the other shows don't exist. Survivor All-Stars should have Survivor contestants, TAR All-Stars, TAR people.
On the other hand, the most annoying thing about Rob and Amber was how it made the race all about them, and that wasn't their fault - the other teams let it get to them and I think the producers played it up. TAR All-Stars would maybe not have that since they'd all have been on before.

I'd love an All-Stars. Rob and Amber were my all-time favorites.
OK, everyone, who would you put in an All Star TAR?
My picks:
Rob and Amber (TAR7 - best non-winners IMO)
Charla and Myrna (TAR5)
Derek and Drew (wonder twins TAR3)
Will and Tara (TAR2, I think)
Oswald and Danny (the most entertaining gay guys -TAR2)
The Gaghan's (without the kiddos) from last season
The Double D's from this season (gotta have a little eye candy
Eric and Jeremy from this year
Linda and Karen (bowling moms)
Rob and Brennan (TAR1 winners)
Kevin and Drew (TAR1 frat brothers)
Blake and Page (TAR2 bro/sis)
John and Al (TAR4 clowns)
Lori and Bolo (TAR6 wrestlers)
OK, that's 14, and I'm sure there are others who are worthy. Maybe we don't have past winners (knocking out Rob and Brennan), and we have one less non-elimination round. That would work.

What about Jonathon and Victoria!?? : )

I couldn't stand Jonathon, and Victoria is an enabler. At least with Tara and Will they were equally nasty, most of the time.

the most annoying thing about Rob and Amber was how it made the race all about them, and that wasn't their fault
Most of the time I like rooting for those teams who the other teams don't like, Rob and Amber, Derek and Drew (wonder twins), Charla and Myrna. Particularly if that team is skilled in the race, and those 3 teams were.
Rob is a master at manipulating things to his advantage. And, it was such fun watching Romber "get in the heads" of the other teams. That being said, I'm glad Joyce and Uchenna won, but I believe Romber may be the best team that didn't win.
To: Texas2step
Yeah, you'd have to add Jonathug and Victoriaaaaa to that list.
You also need an old couple and I would say Meredith and his wife [I just had a brain fart on her name...shoot]
I liked Bolo and Lori...good call
The Gaghans without the kids would probably take it all

Derek and Drew were good, I don't remember why they weren't liked (just better than most of the other teams, I think). Charla and Myrna I could not stand, they were whiny and spent half their time talking about how they were going to screw over the other teams and the other half whining about how the other teams hated them/wouldn't help them/were scared or jealous of them. Now, if Charla found a partner who wasn't Mirna, maybe she'd be ok...
And "getting into the other players' heads" shouldn't really be a part of the race. I only remember it affecting TAR7 twice - the meat roadblock, where yes, it helped, and the one where he managed to convince two of the other teams that he was on a better flight than they were, and they hustled around and actually found a better flight and ended up beating him. Hehehe.
I'd like to see Nancy and Emily and Kevin and Drew from Season 1 back, if we limit it only to non-winners. They were awesome. That was the best season.

Gretchen. I knew my list was short of an "old couple" which would probably be required. The only problem is that I haven't liked any of them. Probably the best old couple were "ugly Americans" Terri and Ian from Season 3.
The Gaghans without the kids would probably take it all
The Gaghans were my favorite, by far, from last year's race. Without the kids, they would be very, very good.

Yeah, I had Kevin and Drew on my list, and almost put Nancy and Emily, but ran out of room. :-) Too bad Nancy and Emily opted not to finish their task, they would have knocked the Guido's out and who knows, maybe they would have won.
the one where he managed to convince two of the other teams that he was on a better flight
That was fun! One of the reason's I liked Romber.
I didn't like Charla and Myrna, at first, but they grew on me and I was sad to see them go. They were definitely underestimated because of Charla's size.

Like the lawyers who won the first race. They were awesome. That was Rob and Brennan.
To: I Drive Too Fast
Yup, and they were awesome. If Kevin and Drew had been in the final three I might have been torn about who to cheer for, but since they weren't, no question who I was rooting for.
That season had the best ending - when Team Guido was still in Alaska and was handed a note that Rob and Brennan had won. Hehehehe.

Yep, that season had two good endings. Team "way behind" Guido and Frank & Margarita who were a little surprised that they were not in first after all, although I think the thought occured to Frank.
