OK,
here is something interesting.....

I can't get Norton completely out of my computer,
seems its part of the Windows security system....at least the firewall is.

And while I can turn off the firewall itself, when I check the security center, it says its still on.

OK, could my pooter just be a lemon???

I seriously doubt that. The problem you're having is something in software. I assumed it was some glitch in the reg. That may not be the problem though. BUT the reg is usually the first place I look for problems in windows systems.
It could be some other program you have loaded that is causing some kind of conflict. It's hard to say without actually being there on site and checking your computer.

You are not alone. Many people have these kinds of problems with windows OS. As long as there is MS "WinDoze" OS.... there will be problems like this. Sad but true.
