MANY of you are giving false information about the movie.
Some facts about the movie:
They ARE cowboys. They work on ranches and they rodeo. They herd sheep JUST for the summer to make some extra money.
They were NOT married w/children when they first met and became involved.
Only one of the SHEEPHERDERS marriage dissolved.
And you Einstein's DO know that 1/2 of all marriages end in divorce, right?
As stated on another thread on this board....
Women do not find 2 guys having sex "sexy." DUH!
2 guys is not a "turn on" anymore for US than it is for YOU!
THAT is not what TURNS US ON about Brokeback Mountain.
Which one of you geniuses thought that was the case?

The film does NOT have a phony message. It has a very real message.
It in NO WAY (not even a litte TINY bit) glorifies the gay lifestyle.
It simply depicts the agony and heartbreak of loneliness.

Come on, have the guts to actually READ this commentary carefully and THINK about seeing Brokeback Mountain for yourself before you unfairly judge it. The commentary is written by a macho straight guy.
See it and THEN come back and let us know if you still feel the same way. If you do, fine.

So, are they cowboys or sheepherders? Sounds like sheepherders to me. Wearing a cowboy hat and cowboy boots doesn't make you a cowboy. Remember John Travolta?

But, they are married and have children and cheat on their spouses, right? With a man, no less. But, because their gay relationship superceded their marriages, it's okay?

I'm glad to hear it. Actually, that kind of activity displayed on the big screen would make my wife physically ill, just as it does ne. But, you're not bothered by it?

No? Then why are all the gays so fired up about this movie about their lifestyle? Maybe glorifies the lifestyle isn't the right term. Do you deny that the movie's agenda is to drum up sympathy for the gay lifestyle? Does the movie not try to evoke empathetic feelings for the characters involved? Sounds like a duck, quacks like a duck. Duck.

Just my opinion, but it looks like you registered with FR just to defend this movie about a couple of gay guys. It looks like, from the "tone" of your post, that you are pretty ticked off by the criticism of the movie. Too bad, as a conservative, I support your right to defend the movie about gay sheepherders, and as a conservative, it shouldn't bother you so much the criticism. First amendment, and all.

By the way, welcome to FR. Maybe after the hubbub of this movie dies away, you can get into some real discussions here about today's conservative issues, including the fight against the gay agenda being championed by leftists.

Get your facts. The 50% statistic is pure baloney that has been repeated by the liberal left for decades now. The actual divorce rate is between 11 and 13%.
