I'd say the criminal class has increased 5x to 10xs within the last 50 years. The best black families started leaving New Orleans in the mid 1950s and was replaced by national Democratic family management reinforced by local religious "leadership". Then the natural "tragedy" occurred. As I have said before, black America in 2006 can be understood of as many iron catch basins and the Democratic system as acid rain clouds. Once corroded, the level of effort necessary to rectify your fellow Americans is better used elsewhere. The tragedy continues……….

Nevertheless, I just can't imagine New Orleans without blacks. I am white but lived in the Deep South all my life so feel like it's not racist to say that the best cooks, the best jazz musicians and the best blues singers have been black. Maybe those times are gone now. I sure hate to think so.

It would be "racist" to say if the best of any respected profession was white. In the past, I feel as though the best doctors, engineers, scientist, etc. in the world were in New Orleans and were white. Nowadays, with choice, New Orleans still has the best jazz musicians, Blues singers, doctors, engineers, and scientist in the world. The Big Easy just needs some decent politicians.
