Wow! This list almost mirrors my "Cheesy metal ballads" list. :P

I'm like Pissant, I spent the 80's with the Dead and old school hard rock from the 70's like Deep Purple, Alice Cooper, BOC (more cowbell!) etc.

21. Silent Lucidity-- Queensryche
17. These Dreams-- Heart
14. Keep On Loving You-- REO Speedwagon
9. Sister Christian-- Night Ranger
7. Every Rose Has Its Thorn-- Poison

These are good. Dump the rest.
Agree with you about Bonnie Tyler's "Total Eclipse of the Heart".

I did Poison at a karaoke once A CAPELLA and brought the house down.
(Anyone who was there and reads this knows who I am now ;-)

Thanks for posting this pissant. These are always fun and nostalgic threads for me.

RR it's always fun playing "Rockin' the 80's" with you. Rock on my friend :)

A "power ballad", by definition, sucks. They all suck-didily-uck.

OMG I hate all of this music except journey- but darned if it doesn't bring back some serious memories.

"Silent Lucidity" is NOT a power ballad!

Where is "Lady" or "Suite Madame Blue" by Styx?

The power ballad is the worst creation of man. Ever.

Warrant's "I Saw Red" deserves a place on this list, as well.

Scorps "Still Loving You" should be better than #22.

And while Aerosmith made #2, it should have been with "Dream On." Maybe that doesn't qualify as a power ballad...

I'm not a fan of the "power ballad" (to put it mildly), but if I had to pick one it'd be "Love to Love" by UFO (the live version on the 1979 album Strangers in the Night).
