Wow! This list almost mirrors my "Cheesy metal ballads" list. :P

I'm like Pissant, I spent the 80's with the Dead and old school hard rock from the 70's like Deep Purple, Alice Cooper, BOC (more cowbell!) etc.

But what did you do when Alice went "Hair Band" in the late 80s?

Constrictor and Raise Your Fist and Yell were actually good albums.

I know guys like that NOW! My one friend always works on his car and cranks up 80s hair bands...he's worse than me even!

I got a friend like that! He's got a white Corvette, and goes up and down the streets of our small town with his windows rolled up and his radio cranked loud.

Lost interest... Basically, after "Muscle of Love" and the original group breaking up, most of Alice's stuff was pretty lame, IMO.

Bon Jovi was so over-played on the radio in the 80's, it became torture.

Although I will admit that "Dead or Alive" is a pretty a good song. Ritchie plays some good guitar in the beginning of it.

Ah yes...the album that made my MOTHER exclaim "whatever happened to Grace..." as she watched Grace Slick on the "We Built This City" video, looking like a middle-aged phys ed teacher.

I asked her what she meant and she replied "honey, she's older than ME, and she used to sing MY kind of music!!"

Grace Slick in fact (according to Wikipedia) set the record for being the oldest female vocalist on a US number one hit-twice. Once with "We Built This City" (she was 46 when it hit #1) and again with "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now" when she was 47. Cher broke the record in 1999 at age 53 with that horribly annoying song, "Believe."

I like Grace Slick, actually. The Jefferson Starship albums she was on were good, mainly because of her captivating voice. Although her politics are nuts!

She's 66 now, BTW, I hadn't realized how old she was (born Oct. 30, 1939).

She admits now she did it for the money. Typical...left-winger enjoying the virtues of capitalism. Nowadays she is still the *evil* capitalist as she sells her paintings for 2 grand a piece.

"We Built This City" was a horrible song. "Nothing's Gonna Stop us Now" is at least tolerable.
