yes you are right. I recall how very slow the old computers & early small modems were.

Our phone lines here always sucked & were always very slow & that is why I opted AGAINST Alltel for DSL over the lines.

My computer gets sluggish even with a gig of memory as I do a lot of graphic work . I reboot a few times a day & find there is more zip. I also run the spy sweeper programs a few times a day & it picks up after that.

My first modem was 300 baud. I could read the screen scrolling real time.

What fun!

Rebooting the computer is good, but ultimately, and unfortunatly, this would involve pulling the FR intravenous from ones vein.

That is not an acceptable option.
