My family used to own a huge, baby blue Checker back in the '80s.
Unfortunately, the maintenance proved to be too costly, so we had to get rid of it.

I don't loan books any more. If I'm sure I'm not going to read it again, I will sell it in a yardsale or donate it to the library.
I can't afford to replace it, now.

I loaned someone on my Lincoln-Douglas debate team-back in high school-my copy of Slouching Towards Gomorrah.
He wound up going to Harvard, and never returning the book.
I can't tell you how many books I've lent to my older brother, only to have him never return them.

Bome people, I won't name, borrowed book after to book and never returned them. I made a trip to their house to reclaim some and discovered their entire library consisted of my books! They denied they were my books, argued me straight out of the house. Unbelievable. Obviously, I don't talk to them anymore, but they still have my books. They're Dems, too.

Another good reason to put book plates in it, or at the least get one of those library seals, and emboss your name in two places...where they would miss half the story if the pages were removed.
It's time to get UGLY about loaning books...

Yeah, I stopped loaning my brother books after I lent him Claudius The God, which he subsequently gave to one of his friends.

Weekend was so-so. Didn't get nearly as much classwork done as I should have. Now I am way behind... again. Third week running. I just can't seem to keep it up to speed this quarter.
