I have just discovered 24 this year. I am watching season one on DVD while I exercise. It's my rule, I must workout while watching.........I stayed on my elliptical for hours and burned off 3000 calories today. I watched four episodes. I'm also watching Season 1 and Season 5 at the same time, and it seems that almost everyone from Season 1 is gone or has been killed off.

So far I think only Tony, Jack, and Kim are still alive although Tony is out of commission for right now (although we'll see him later) and Kim will be back as well this season.
