So it seemed just a bit suspicious to me that Tony, having awakened from being blown up, not knowing anything that had happened in the show other than that the former president had been killed, would ask to talk to Jack.

That's a pretty good point. :~D

RE: you're issues about Spencer (6) and Walt (7). The plot hole I thought of was a little different. When Walt had Spencer let the 'assassin' dude in, he had to know that whether the assassin was successful or not, his [Walt's] cover would be blown... That CTU would soon find out who let the guy in, and that Spencer would talk. Yet Walt didn't appear to be in emergency mode about his own cover.

Walt's cover would only be blown if Spencer was left alive and talked. If the assassin planned to take him out too... he'd look like a mole, but no connection to Walt.

CTU's gotta do something about this mole problem. Though, they do get some of their best intel by putting the screws to the moles. Maybe they do it on purpose. :-)
