He's a RINO, which isn't much different. Palmer was Dem, but he was pro-national defense and pro-military.

Ugh, the writers actually identified each Prez as a member of a particular party in previous seasons? (This is not always done on TV or in movies) Of course the more admirable President (Palmer) is the Dem... >:-(

No, no, no. The only time politics was brought into the series was in the first season when Palmer was identified as a Dem. Since then, no one's party affliation has been named. But since, Palmer bowed out of the pres. race in season 3, we deduced that President Keeler (and now President Logan) are Republicans. But that's as far as politics goes.
