"Couldn't she have just gone away quietly? She thought Jack was dead, leave her alone and let her mourn. Plus, I don't like her character."
Not only did she lose Jack, don't forget she lost her husband too. In truth I think Jack had more chemistry with the Mexican chick. Didn't hurt that she was hotter than any woman they've had on the show.
Hair, OX, and anyone else who wants to answer: How dumb are most of the women on 24? Were I a female actress on the show, I'd demand that they gave my character a brain. Terri was stupid, Kate Warner (creator of what I call the "Kate Warner Face" where you are horrified and confused at the same time) kept going after her sister even after she found out she was a terrorist, Audrey never listened to Jack or her father, and don't get me started on Kim. What's with these chicks?
Others here would think otherwise.
Well lets look at the current president character on the show. I think it realisticly shows how the Peter Principle comes into play.
False conclusion: he's the first male character to "go stupid" on us. Even the baddies and coup-organizers didn't "go stupid". They may have been the bad guys, but they had brains. Sure they made mistakes and got caught, but none of them even approach Kate and Audrey on the "stupid scale." Let alone, Kim.
You win with that one.
Well, you failed to mention, in your "most of the women of '24' the two best smart female characters, Nina and Michelle. Michelle is sharp, and a cutie pie, and Nina... well Nina was Nina.
I agree on Terri, all I can think is maybe Jack just thought his life was so high adrenaline, he needed a wife who provided ~zero~ stimulation at all just to be able to relax at night ;~D Course, then she ended up being the source of stress anyway.
I cut Kate Warner's character a lot of slack. I liked her. You say she went on and on after her sister, but the truth is, she had everything she thought was true become false in just a few hours. It's not every day our whole universe turns upside down, unless you're Jack.
And let us not forget Sherry Palmer, good looking, clever, coniving and despicable all at the same time.. There is no doubt in my mind she was portrayed as a hillary, except for the looks of course.
east, I listened to the feature commentary on an episode that Penny Johnson-Gerald did in Season 2. She said she patterned her character after Condi!!!
Also, PJG is now a registered Republican. She switched parties after being on 24.
She may have in her own mind but the writers and directors portrayed her as a scheming behind the scenes manipulator, just like hitlery.
She woke up thinking her sister was getting married, and she ends up in the middle of a huge terrorist plot involving her sister, gets kidnapped, tortured, rescued, joins up with some ~guy~ named Jack who seems to be scary and a major stud at the same time, goes under cover in a terrorist suspected mosque, has a showdown with her sister, gets beat up by street thugs, and then finds out this amazing guy you suddenly have the hots for is about to go blow himself up to save everyone.
If you were having her day, you'd have the same face.
Sherry's a snake, and hated her, which I guess means it was well played.
Woooohooooo! Can't wait!
How dumb are most of the women on 24?
LOL. Your commentary is exactly right. I've thought the exact same thing about all of the women. The only exception were the evil women; ie. Mrs. Palmer and last year's terrorist mom. They at least were intelligent, just evil.
Just heard Rush give a five minute discussion of 24. He apparently got a preview DVD copy of the first four episodes (the ones airing Sundy and Monday nights) because he's in the media and knows Surnow and Cochran.
He said that the four episodes are perhaps the best starting episodes they've ever done on the show and that they are "don't leave your seat" good.
And Rush also said 2 characters get killed in the first 10 minutes, any speculation as to who that might be?
Gosh - they've all been that good for me. Even when they were jumping the shark, it was "don't leave your seat" good (with the possible exception of the 6th or 7th time Kim got kidnapped - "Not again... I think I'll go make a sandwich, want anything?)
We got into 24 in kindof reverse order. We started watching it live midway through last season and got hooked. Then we spent this last season going through the DVDs to catch up, starting with the first season. It's tempting to sit and watch them for hours on end... just 'one more' at a time... but it's exhasuting! We quickly realized 3 hours a night was about our limit.
Blogs4Bauer.com (think that's the site) is running a "Death Poll" on their site. Consensus there is that it's President Palmer. I think it's Palmer and Tony. The Girlfriend thinks it's Chloe and Mike Novak.
