It's just a TV show. I know, so you don't have to tell me.
But anyway, here's my gripes for this evening.
1) Why does FLOTUS have no secret service protection?
2) How could FLOTUS sneak out of a secured location where I would presume SS is positioned to prevent intruders?
3) How did yellow-tie guy get past the "security perimeter" at the airport, in order to get to the hanger that was outside the perimeter?
4) If the hanger was outside the perimeter, how did the fake SWAT truck get back INTO the perimeter so that it could later drive OUT of the perimeter past the guards?
5) Why is the guard at the airport perimeter bothering to hold a clipboard, if he's not checking license plates of vehicles coming and going?
6) What secure building lets visitors just wave in and out on a level-2 security clearance pass. My work isn't hardly secure at all, and we have to record all visitors and issue passes. I'm sure CTU used to make everybody get a pass.
7) In the middle of a crisis, a terror attack at an airport, former president is dead, agents are dead, nerve gas on the loose -- and CTU can't tell the president his chief of staff was running an illegal operation at CTU? In the real world we can get the chief of staff fired for lying to investigators about something that wasn't a crime, but here we can't warn the president that a traitor is in the white house? Aren't they worried the traitor might KILL the president or first lady, he's already had ample opportunity. Sorry, that whole "we need proof" doesn't cut it for me, its the hardest thing so far for me to accept. Secret Service would simply arrest him, and let someone else sort it out later.
8) I'm not positive about this: While Tony knew Jack was alive, he had no idea at the time of the bombing that Jack was involved in any way with what was happening. And it seems pretty sure that nobody would have told the doctor about Jack being back (although I guess the word would have spread). So it seemed just a bit suspicious to me that Tony, having awakened from being blown up, not knowing anything that had happened in the show other than that the former president had been killed, would ask to talk to Jack.
That's it for me. Chloe had the two best lines of the night, already pointed out by observant people above: "I just did" and "camamile tea".
Ever notice that sometimes Jack really tries to keep bad guys alive, while other times he just doesn't, but in either case they end up dead?
I think CTU could use some security guys actually monitoring the cameras.
I'm not too dissappointed in cell phones working at CTU. I don't think the security is actually a secret facility in the "DoD" sense of the term, more of an FBI-type "under wraps" kind of place where cell phones would be useful.
If FLOTUS wasn't groggy, she might have thought to ask her staff person who SHE told about the paper in her blouse. The staff person would then remember she told the COS, and that would confirm the stuff CTU had if they weren't keeping it secret rather than giving the information to the Secret Service. And they could always dust her for fingerprints...... :->
Last observation. While its great that FLOTUS escaped, I'm curious how she holds any real significance in this plot. She was going to be told by Palmer about "something", but she wasn't told, it wasn't in the communication, they all know Palmer knew something, and the plot is already public and ongoing. And now we know about the COS. So it will be interesting to see how any information she can provide will be of any real value.
If I remember correctly, he wasn't CTU for the 2nd year either.
There is a lot of whispering on the show. ANd dark scenery, but it is still really good. :) I hope she has someone too, I would hate to see her character killed.
By far the BEST series on TV!!!!
BTW, there's a rumor going around the Kiefer will be on Hugh Hewitt's show tomorrow. He quickly mentioned that it may be in the 1st(6-7PM EAST/3-4PM WEST)so you can look forward to that.
He also mentioned that Sean Astin might make an appearence soon.
I think Mike is the Karl Rove character. But I suspect that there will soon be an opening at Chief of Staff.

Some good chili and savory pork tenderloin works too (evil g!).
The notion of giving ANY political flunky the 'benefit of the doubt' should be relegated, just as the former Soviet Union, to 'the ash-heap of history'.
One time in the knee, Jack, then once in the shoulder...then ask dear Walter a question or two.

Awesome! "Maryland House"... you don't mean that restaurant/gas station place off I-95?
11:43 FLOTUS wakes up and finds assistant packing her things. She realizes she will be committed. Sounds resigned and goes into bathroom to get dressed.
Spencer is hauled into Buchanan's office by security. Buchanan and Chloe interrogate him, but he won't talk. Spencer claims Chloe is trying to get back at him. Buchanan shuts him up.
11:47 POTUS arrives to ship FLOTUS off to the funny farm. He finds that she has climbed out the bathroom window, although they initially make it look like she may have killed herself.
11:53 Bauer is talking with McGill when the clinic calls saying that Tony is awake and wants to talk with Jack. Jack has fatherly moment with Derek on the way to the clinic. Buchanan continues to question Spencer when they realize Spencer was tracking Jack. Jack enters the clinic to see Tony. He leans in and realizes that Tony is still unconcious. Jack notices a reflection in a monitor in time to keep the assasin from shooting him. Jack kicks the assasin's ass. Jack gets cracked rib which will heal in about 45 minutes.
11:58 Jack heads up to interrogate Spencer. He shows Spencer the dead assasin and Spencer cracks like an egg. Spencer gives up Walt Cummings. Jack explains that he isn't CTU and that he is going to go see the President.

Dude, you need TiVo.
Dude. You didn't let me down. Your post was the one I had to read every single post since the beginning of the show to get to.
I was right with you on everything you've said concerning this week's episodes. And in fact thanks to you (and several others on this thread), I compiled 19 critical plot holes from last week's episodes, and sent it off as thoraine eMail to my Mom about the show. Yes!
You know, when ever I run into people who are Steve - Fly Like an Eagle - Miller fans, I always comment something like: "Steve's all right and everything, but I just have a hard time listening to him sucking in all that air after each sentance he sings." Never fails, a few days or so later, invariably they come up to me and punch me in the arm. "What'dya do THAT for?" "You destroyed my hero." "You destroyed my HERO. I can't listen to Stever Miller any more. I never noticed that he breathes that way until you TOLD ME! Now I can't listen to him anymore (their voices trailing off into a whimper...
As far as #8, Tony NEVER woke up. The assassin guy killed the doc, and then made the call requesting Jack come see Tony and made that story all up. One look at Tony should've been evidence enough: he's been out cold since Michelle was killed.
Tonight I watched with my ex-husband and was having to yammer at about 90 miles an hour to get him all caught up on who's who and what's what and fortunately, he hasn't lived in a bubble and had some clue as to what was going on and being full time ANG, he knows enough of what I know to acutally cheat and give the reader's digest of stuff... Whereas, if he was a pansy azz liberal I would have had to have explained what a chain of command is (along with what a Secretary of State is and a Chief of Staff, etc. is/are/do/does...) instead of using quick analogies...like the mole has Andy Card's job and helping him match faces with people he heard of (heard of Chloe, Edgar and Jack, of course...)
I don't think they typically have SS posted outside every room inside the residence at retreats like this... presumably, the perimeter is secure and I don't think the president and first lady walk around the house at Camp David or W's Ranch, for example, with SS in tow.
He found a hole... sometimes the enemy is cunning too.
I think those guards were at the entrance to the airport hanger area... unrelated to the emergency 'perimeter'.
He found a hole... sometimes the enemy is cunning too.
Yes, so cunning that he removed the yellow tie and was, thus, in a very clever disguise.
That's a pretty good point. :~D
RE: you're issues about Spencer (6) and Walt (7). The plot hole I thought of was a little different. When Walt had Spencer let the 'assassin' dude in, he had to know that whether the assassin was successful or not, his [Walt's] cover would be blown... That CTU would soon find out who let the guy in, and that Spencer would talk. Yet Walt didn't appear to be in emergency mode about his own cover.
