The actor who played the Exec. ADA before Sam Waterston was Michael Moriarty. The character was Ben Stone.

Jumped the shark with Logan. If it is Logan then why did his chief of staff off himself? That makes not a lot of sense. I suppose they will sort it all out but I don't like it much.I was running that one around in my head, too. After all, Cummings was alone with Logan when the whole "plot" with the cannisters was exposed. Since Walt obviously wouldn't have to admit that HE was part of the plot to Logan, if he KNEW Logan was the head cheese, it leaves me to one conclusion: Cummings was getting marching orders from somebody else than Logan and didn't KNOW Logan was involved. Now I am thinking that, perhaps, Cummings was getting HIS orders from the DoD--say Audrey's DADDY? And Audrey's DADDY is getting orders from Logan. Why? I suspect there is blackmail somewhere in here. Isn't there always some sort of blackmail on these shows?
OR this is just a pathetic attempt to paint a sitting president as a seemingly pathetic individual, with less intelligence than those he has surrounding him (and he PRAYS, too!), committing terroristic, treasonous acts against his own citizens and country, as some sort of evil genious plot to start a war where he can be a hero--more popular than the PREVIOUS BELOVED Democratic President before him? Or am I just too cynical? LOL.
What do I know anyhow? This is my first season. Heh heh.
Just thought I'd throw my hat in the ring. ;^)
To: Shelayne; calljack
Cummings probably didn't know that Logan was behind everything. Cummings was just a peon. Logan played dumb in order to keep his involvement a secret. (The fewer people that know, the less chance he has of being exposed.)
And I suspect that Cummings didn't kill himself. Logan probably had him silenced.

That's exactly what I think. I guess we will find out sooner or later. I hope. ;^)

I'd say you have a healthy dose of skepticism that has not developed into cynicism......yet ;-)

Thank you. I am trying to retain a sense of "innocence" about this, but I am naturally suspicious of anything that comes out of Hollywood studios. ;^)
To: Shelayne
At least some of the guys who write "24" are big conservatives. Joel Surnow was on Rush Limbaugh last week and he and Rush are good friends.
I seriously doubt they're trying to make Logan out to be a caricature of President Bush.

I heard him on Rush the other day, too. I know there are conservatives involved in the writing. I was sort of teasing in that post, though it IS Hollywood, you know. ;^) I also think that a good majority of the "24" audience is likely to be conservative.
Actually, I thought Logan was actually kind of Nixon-esque at first--especially when he wanted Mike to pray with him. I think Logan is probably a compilation of the worst character traits of many political leaders. Just a hunch.
I am sure you are probably right; I was just having a little fun trying to figure out the plot, and with my moonbat hat on, the pieces fell into place so nicely...
To: Shelayne
I agree about Logan. I think they've made him out to be a combination of the worst traits of all recent Presidents.
I also think that if it wasn't for Gregory Itzin, Logan wouldn't be believable. Itzin has done such a good job as Logan that he is loved by most fans. IMHO he deserves an Emmy nomination for best supporting actor. Originally, the character Logan wasn't going to be back for Season 5 but Itzin got such good reviews they decided to bring him back.

He is very good in this role and I agree--he should at least get an Emmy "nod" for this portrayal.
Has "24" received any Emmys? I thought I remember Keifer being nominated one year, but maybe that was a SAG. Honestly, I don't watch the awards shows anymore, so I am a bit out of the loop.
To: Shelayne
It's won some of the minor Emmy awards like sound editing and such. It's biggest awards are the two Golden Globes for the show itself and for Kiefer.

Thanks-that is great to hear. Keifer definitely deserves to win best actor accolades. I mean he's JACK!

Hey CoexerJ145, I have a Samsung MM-A880 phone and I use Sprint, I can't find a Jack Bauer Wallpaper for my background anywhere! Got any suggestions? I also want CTU ringtones from a reliable source and can't find it...I do have the closing credits of 24 for one of my ringer choices....you seem talented in the techie stuff so thought it would not hurt to ask!

I've been looking for 24 wallpaper & ringtones for a while for my phone (Cingular) but so far I haven't found any that works. The few I've found (incompatible with my phone) sound like a cheap version of the CTU ringtone. The one I really want is the sound of the clock counting but I haven't heard an one that is an authentic ringtone.

Please add me to the ping list?
I've been watching "24" since Jan. of the 2nd season but didn't know you had a "live" thread.
