.....and I have to admit, there are times....car trouble, etc.,when it would be advantageous.
But I spend enough time on the phone when I'm home. When I leave the house I prefer to concentrate on other things.
I actually borrowed Ev's cell when he was off at basic & AIT.....I think I used it twice; both times to tell my daughter I had arrived at her apt. building to pick her up.
Could've walked up the steps & gotten a little exercise instead.;^)

I have one that I seldom use...but my children insist that I have it for emergencies: when lines go down here (rural area) as they often do during the winter or when a driver wrecks against a telephone pole some distance away...they also insist that I carry it w/me in case I fall or something outside and need help. It makes sense, I guess.
Yesterday, I was driving in heavy traffic and the darn phone in my purse started ringing....I don't drive and talk on the phone at the same time, so I had to pull into a store parking lot to take the call.
LOL! Well, if I ever have that special woman in my life again, she WILL have a cell phone. I will insist. I can survive without one....albeit I could use one in an emergency. I may succomb to it someday, but for now, I'm surviving somehow without one.
