The first car I ever drove was a red, 1962 Scout 4x4.
I remember we had to drive it to Salt Lake City in 1963 while my mother ran for Mrs. Utah. Whe was sooooo embarrassed! Little did she know she was 30 years ahead of her time and the SUV craze.

The first car I owned was a 70 Buick, but the first automobile I ever drove was my Dad's beach buggy. 1945 Dodge 3/4 ton army surplus 4X4 truck. He called it a weapons carrier. Later civilian models were called Dodge Power Wagons. 230 flathead six, non-synchronized four speed. Learned to double-clutch when I learned to drive. Used to drive it on the beach when I was 12 and 13. Wasn't fast, but would pull like a tractor. Sadly, the darn thing was rusting away and Dad sold it when I was 14.

I had a 1964 IH PU truck. We called it the "corn thrasher."
