The Hobbit Hole XXVI - Home is behind, the world ahead
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 12/11/2005 8:37:40 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Home is behind, the world ahead

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Well, like I said, it's on my dream list, and has been for a while. I've got a lot of stuff on that list.

And speaking of a list, I'd better get at it. I'm putting away all the Christmas stuff today. And I intend to reorganize and purge as I do.

It will involve multiple trips to and time spent in the ~attic~.

please pray

;-)

Well ...

I got a letter from the "really-really wanted" job. Figured it was a FOAD ... but when I opened it up, it said, "The position you applied for will not be filled at this time."

Is that just a nice way of FOADing me? Or does it really mean there was some bureaucratic oopsie?

I want to drop an "I'm so sorry to hear that" email to the woman I bonded with ... should I?

Do I wanna know what FOAD stands for?

Maybe someone made a budget oopsie. That's what happened with that job I spent months tryin' to get - the major background check / lie detector test thing. At the end of everything, they decided they couldn't afford another person.

Grrr.

Dropping an e-mail couldn't hurt, I don't think.

It could mean any number of things. Especially considering the employer.

Could be budgeting. Could be management. Could be all the other hinky stuff going on in your state. Could be a hiring freeze. Could be any of those things.

What it ~doesn't~ mean is that it went to someone else.

I just have no clue what's expected of me at this point. And there's no one really I can talk to about it.

I wish I had more that I could tell you. I know your frustrations.

In some ways you're at the end of the road. But at the same time the possiblities are endless.

We'll keep praying. And you know you can tell us anything.

Just feels like most possibilities require resources I ain't got.

That said, looks like I'm going to have an interview next week. It was a job I didn't really wanna apply for - it's an hour away. *sigh* And in the People's Republic of Boulder. Eek. I've never done that drive, and it's on busy interstates. I started shaking all over while on the phone just thinking about it, but I still said I'd be interested. Hope I don't live to regret it.

Well, there seems to be a bit of bad news in the Hole today...what with Rose's FOAD and my car getting rummaged through. I just got finished speaking to the police officer and filing a report and he told me my neighbor across the street, my favorite neighbor that I love so much...her truck got actually broken in to last night and they tried to do something to the steering column. Busted it.

But I can't feel blue! What a nice ring, Talon!!! Tickles me to death!!!
