Glad you made it back from the airport ok, LBKQ!
Up and at em CM!
8 degrees here, and the countryside is starting to take on that Currier&Ives flavor.
Funny story abour airports. When I was much younger, and we lived about 25 minutes from Milwaukee, my parents decided to go on a trip together down to Florida.
My oldest sister Tracy had agreed that she would pick them up at the airport. A week later the time came for us to pick the folks up at the airport. 7 of us piled into the car. (Trace had just gotten her driver licence not long before our trip to get mom and dad. She was just 17.)
Not knowing Milwaukee, she told us all to say a few prayers right before we left. 45 minutes later, and hopelessly lost down in Milwaukee, Tracy came to a stop sign on the east side. Feeling at wits end she finally yelled to the back of the station wagon, "Which one of you didn't pray!!!"
Needless to say we eventually made it to the airport.
BTW... it wasn't me!
Be careful, dog!
The system I live in stays open for the money. This is the SAME district that has astro-turf on their football field and a jumbotron scoreboard. Yet they stay open in hazardous conditions because they "need" the money.
This angers me to no end. And the school board (whicih is non-partisan but has mostly conservatives on it) spens this money like there's no tomorrow. Someone heard the school board president talking and saying something about "showing" those people up that live in a northside affluent district. The school system is in a very expensive and juvenile "keep up with the Jonses."
I am voting against ALL of the imsumbents in the next board election, let me tell you.
I'm not going to say another word about the apparent heat wave we have here (20's and ice) when I read about worse conditions other Freepers are having.
Cool...
Get the coffee going!
Good Morning!
The Raven - you reading about the libs is more morbid curiosity than regular curiosity. :)
Carolinamom - we are at 30 right now. But dry out.
LBKQ - sure glad you made it in ok! Enjoy those babies.
Nita - glad to know you won't be trying to drive into work this morning.
Miss Marple- I sure hope the school district rethinks the matter and closes the schools for the day.
Awwww... I'll be your friend.
You can send the check too... :)
Praying you all remain safe and warm throughout today and the weekend.
Take care.
Good morning.
Prayers for you guys out there. Stay safe!
Quiet here, which is ok by me.
I will go meet them when they get off the bus this afternoon.
We had an all school Mass for our Religous Ed. for the Feast of the Immaculate Reception.
The entire Mass, other than father celebrating the Mass, was accomplished by students. From the ushers, the lectors, to Eucharistic Ministers. It was wonderful to see, and a good way to develop a bond for those students.
BTW... Do you get Relevant Radio?
There have been two articles I've seen that claim the trees that the US is planting is contributing to global warming. Yet these are the same people who have said that logging is practically a sin against nature and contributes to global warming.
Whoops....
Feast of the Immaculate Conception.
Got football on the brain!
Only in Packer country!
LOL
While HUGO was raging outside...and while all other school systems announced closings, there was nary a mention of our own schools on that or any other TV station.
I decided then and there that no job was worth my driving through a hurricane and the devil could take the hindmost.
The school DID close...but for only ONE DAY. You see, the schools in town had electricity, but the rest of us saw trees blocking the roads and we had no electricity for an entire week. (No lights, heat, or coffee unless we drove 5 miles into town. I experienced ENVY at that lack of coffee.)
Many teachers had to commute 30 or more miles not only to get to school but to be early enough to take showers in the gym.
My family was lucky enough to have flashlights (and batteries) to stay warm either sleeping on pallets in front of our fireplace in the den or in bed reading at night during that week. It was a rough time.
HEAD'S UP!!!! A new GOP ad will be shown on Fox sometime today. It will be of RATS talking about the war with a white flag flying over their heads. I haven't seen it but I can't wait.

Well, you can see I am excited.
I've got my boss, two other colleagues, and myself heading for the Packer game on Sunday night.
We should be getting into Green Bay by 5:00. I've got a ticket to park in the Arena parking lot, off Oneida.
Traffic will be thick, I imagine?
