LET'S ROLL!!!
No snow yet, but it's just west of here. NWS says it will get here by 1 AM, I am betting more like about 1 1/2 hours from now!
we have quite a few inches here already .. good luck. Know it is harder for you folks.
Wife was coming back from Stauton, VA. She left there at 5:30. Not home yet, and I'm hoping she got in front of the snow, as much of the Highway 81 corridor is being blanketed now, and it has moved as far east as Front Royal.
Prayers that she will be safe. I recall my years of living in the south.. folks there just didn't do well in/w snow.. removal was inadequate, people did not have epxerience driving in it & consequently more accidents..
We laughed prior to the Inauguration how the capital was paralyzed by the inch or so as we drove in.. and we had just come thru the mountains, blizzard & very heavy snowfall w/o problem.
I pray she's in front of it all, too.
Mrs. Chairman just got home. She stayed ahead of the snow.
Thanks for letting us know. That's wonderful!
good news ! and good night!
(close to the movie?) (Good Night & Good Luck)
Good to have her safely at home.
See ya'll tomorrow! and BTW Chair, this PM posting seems great. What do you think of it?
Good evening.
Southwest Airline plane skids off runway in Chicago; passengers okay although it sounds like someone on the ground is at least injured.
Oh, gosh. Reading down. Keeping your wife in my prayers.
One time in CT, the ice storm was so bad the only way to remain on the side roads was to drive with the passenger side of the car tires off the road into the crunchy part of the road, veering to avoid mailboxes. That was a LONG drive home. Be ready with a hot toddy and back rub for your wife.
Well, I really need to keep reading before posting. LOL
Glad she's home okay, Chair.
My daughter-in-law picked them up at 8:00 PM. It took her 2 1/2 hours to get to my house from the museum...normally a half-hour drive. Downtown was in gridlock. Some of the Pacers couldn't get to the basketball game tonight. We have schoolbuses off the road in ditches, sections of the interstate blocked by massive pile-ups, ramps closed, etc.
My son will be plowing all night. Right now the grandkids school is on a two-hour delay. I personally think they should bag it and cancel for the entire day. There is no way the roads will improve by tomorrow...the temperature is dropping right now, so nothing is going to melt. We have 6 inches on the ground and snow is still falling.
Oh, definitely they should cancel school tomorrow since the roads are that bad.
I love a good snowstorm, but only when we don't have to drive in it.
New thread on FR details the following which will guarantee happy dreams tonight:
Donald Rumsfeld was asked by Jim Lehrer on the News Hour on PBS just now if his low poll numbers bothered him. This was after one tiresome question after another about how the polls prove Americans hate Bush, the war in Iraq and everything else Republican-related.
Rumsfeld came up with the best, in-your-face reply: "If you look where the news media is, it's down very low in the polls. If you want to get into public opinion polls, people in that business are right down near the bottom. You know that. Does it bother you?" Lehrer looked embarrassed and could only respond "I ask the questions here."
I was thinking of you there in IN and wondering how much snow you were getting and what the conditions were like. Sounds bad! Glad you are home. Hope they cancel school for you grandkids.
Stay safe and warm.
Good morning !!!!!!!!!
Anyway, it's wet and 28 degrees, so I THINK there may be ice outside, but I'm not going outside to investigate. Nope. Not going to do it!
How are ya, Rave? Coffee on?
I'm reading about the Democrats. I have no idea why I wasted my time on that - I guess it's a curiosity.
Speaking of which, I ordered a book that traces back the lib and conservative thought processes to the root cause (American and French Revolution).
Good morning from freezing, snowy, stinky weather Illinois.
Dang, it's COLD!
Took us lots of extra time to get from O'Hare to home. What a mess! Course, it wouldn't have taken quite as long if daughter had filled up the car with gas BEFORE she left.
Arghhhhhhhhhhhh.................Had to get off the interstate to fill up, and that particular exit didn't have an entrance back to the interstate.
Glad we didn't fly into Midway. Those poor people.
Going to daughter's this morning to babysit with the two little ones until noon. My mini van's traction isn't the greatest. Hope the plows were woking well last night.
