Poinsettias are not lethally poisonous to humans or pets (unless a huge amount is ingested, but anything ingested in huge amounts is poisonous). They may cause upset stomach, but the (reportedly) horrible taste of poisettia leaves and flowers would keep any child or cat from eating more than one bite.

Apparently, the plants to really watch out for over the holidays are mistletoe and holly.

Thanks . . . that probably explains why my boy (cat) didn't do much with the poinsettia after he knocked it off the foyer table last year.
