At the time they were written Il Cortegiano was the one that you had sitting in the front parlor so everyone could know how cosmopolitan you were.
The Prince was the book you hastily shoved under a pile of papers if anyone happened to enter your private study unannounced.
Strange how one book has endured as a classic and the other is a curiosity known only to bespecaled scholars and members of the SCA

"If I remember correctly, braccio(singular) = arm"
that is pretty much what I said
but, if you insist...
Oxford Latin Dictionary entry for "Brac(c)hium"
Brac(c)hium ~(i)i, n, [cf. Gk *braxion*]
1. the forearm, from elbow to hand
2. the arm, from shoulder to hand. b(as used in particular gestures or actions). c(as a standard of measurement). d(in various fig. applications); esp. ~ia dare, praebare (+ dat.), to surrender (to); molli ~io, gently; leui ~io, easily, slackly.
3. (of animals) the forelimb...
4. (of trees, vines, etc...) a branch, shoot
etc...
("buxeirostris"??? having a beak colored like boxwood????? damn, these romans were screwy)

Is there a Scots-Gaelic word for "queen" and, if so, how does one pronounce it? Yes, there is. "Ban-rìgh", and it's pronounced "BAWN-ree" (the first syllable a lot like the vowel sound in "round").
