NFL POWER RANKINGS - WEEK 8
NFL.com ^ | 11/1/2005 | Vic Carucci

Posted on 11/01/2005 10:50:20 AM PST by Ultra Sonic 007

1. Indianapolis (7-0; unchanged): The Colts are rested, but are they ready to show the nation they have conquered their Gillette Stadium demons?

2. Denver (6-2; 4): The Broncos enter their bye with the comfort of knowing they have one of the most complete teams in the league.

3. Pittsburgh (5-2; 2): Good teams find a way to win even on a bad night, but Big Ben's health remains a concern.

4. Cincinnati (6-2; 6): Yes, that was a Hall-of-Fame-bound quarterback the Bengals' defense overwhelmed.

5. N.Y. Giants (5-2; 11): After an emotional win for Wellington, the Giants need to guard against a letdown at San Francisco.

6. New England (4-3; 7): The Patriots must show dramatic improvement over their performance vs. Buffalo if they have any chance of handing the Colts their first loss.

7. Atlanta (5-2; 8): Michael Vick is going to need to be much sharper than he was before the Falcons' bye in order to have success against Miami's defense.

8. Seattle (5-2; 9): The Seahawks should pick up where they left off before the bye at Arizona.

9. Dallas (5-3; unranked): The Cowboys can rest easier with the knowledge that they have some nice depth at running back in Marion Barber.

10. Carolina (5-2; unranked): Steve Smith's amazing comeback continues in dramatic fashion.

11. Tampa Bay (5-2; 3): With the Panthers coming to town, the Bucs had better fix what ails their offense -- and fast!

12. Jacksonville (4-3; 5): After an upset loss to St. Louis, the Jaguars can't allow the Texans to make them their second victim of the season.

The Giants are as good as Eli's throws.

The Defense is good and the running game is solid, but Eli is the difference between the Giants and the Redskins, Cowboys and Iggles.

Hey I'm spending the rest of the season watching which college defensive end with pass rushing abilities would warrant the Packers pick. :)

Manning v. Manning.

OK, maybe I'm dreaming-I think the Panthers will take the NFC and the Steelers have an outside shot of beating the Colts. As of now though, it looks like it will be Peyton going to Disney.

Agreed. They don't seem to like the cold all that much. If the play at 3 Rivers or at Foxboro, they're done. With their record and their schedule, I think they will have home field throughout and wind up in Detroit's dome. Unless one of their bigt 3 go down, indy seems like a lock even if they lose 1 or 2 regular season games on the way.

If the G-men's D continues to improve, they may have something to say. Atlanta's overrated and Philly is done. Carolina will be tough and Seattle has a shot. Dallas is too one dimensional.

"...but Eli is the difference between the Giants and the Redskins, Cowboys and Iggles...."

The Giants-Cowboys game was a lackluster overtime win for Dallas but for the record: Eli was 14 for 30 passes for 179 yards and 1 td (47% passing). Drew Bledsoe was 26 for 37 passing for 293 yards and 1 td (70% passing). Drew had a better day in percentage and yards. When they met again on December 4th, it may be different. Might not. We'll see.

Carolina will be lucky to beat the Bears. In fact, I doubt they will.

Please quit praising my Panthers. Every time people talk good of them, they seem to get lazy and screw up. Leave us as the underdogs!

They'll need a time machine to play at Three Rivers. ;-)

Middle of the pack...DA BEARS. First Place in the Central. 3-0 in their division. Swept the Lions, already beat the ViQueens (2-5) and whose afraid of the Pack (1-6). No reason to believe that DA BEARS couldn't hold on to first place for the remainder of the season. I'm not real confident in our offense. Our defense certainly defines our team. Only two real tough games left in our season... Panthers and Steelers. Bear down Chicago Bears.....................................

yeah but what do you think of first when you think of the Giants the past couple years?

Some Tiki Barber, but they struggle when throwing the ball.

He is changing that.
