Advent doesn't start until Sunday.

I didn't know what day for certain - I just remembered it was four weeks before Christmas - thanks!

In the current calendar, Advent starts 4 Sundays before Christmas. That gives us a long Advent this year, when Christmas is on a Sunday, and a short one next year, with Christmas on a Monday.

In the old calendar, Advent was 40 days, like Lent.
