We have days like that, too. As long as we've done prayers and at least one item of housework ("life skills"), I'm willing to count it as a "school day."

Speaking of home ec., do any of you scientifigal types know whether it's possible for my leftovers to grow mold in the freezer? I just took a ziplock bag of (I think) beef-something-glop out of the top loader, and it looked like it was growing spores.

I think that freezing only makes mold go dormant. Its still there and would grow at a much slower rate, but once it gets some heat to it, it will start up again.

Just how long has the glop in qusetion been in there??!!??

Oh, ick!

I've never heard of things growing mold in a properly functioning freezer, but don't discount the possibility.

IN the freezer? if it is functioning properly: no.

How long was it left out from cooking to freezer? And was it covered? If in doubt, throw it out.

I suspect the "spores " could be very small ice crystals, similar to what you might see on the walls of non "frost-free" freezers.

Try warming a small patch of "spores" to see if they melt, but don't get frostbite!
