I've been reading the papers and watching the local news on the alphabet channels, and from what I can see, it's a democratic stronghold. The dems thought they could get some money if they began to ticket jaywalkers, and they went full bore.
They are so sure of their positions that it was after I had gone to court and learned that it had been dismissed that they sent me the letter of dismissal...dated October 16, which was a Sunday, and which I received on Friday, October 21...the day AFTER my court date of October 20.
I can't get any satisfaction here without a heart attack or stroke...mine...I'm not into that, thank you very much. If I am going to spend time and effort on being a thorn, I want to make sure that thorn is long, hard and indestructible.
If I start a fight, I want to make sure I can finish it.
In democratic strongholds (such as Seattle and WA), "satisfaction" is hard to come by. The triggers to our involvement might never be resolved; we can't address them directly and I sometimes doubt we will ever achieve "satisfaction."
But rather than providing a single long, hard and indestructible thorn, the goodwife and I appear as multiple small, sufficiently tough and definitely persistent thorns. We don't win all the battles (I really wish we could...) but we run up pretty good scores on most, puncturing lots of overinflated tyres along the way.
They know who we are. The last time the goodwife showed up to testify on some bill or another, she heard one of "them" whisper to another: "OMG, it's her!"
Heh. Yup. It is she.
