He said, "Give me a double header funeral in Wrigley Field
On some sunny weekend day (no lights)
Have the organ play the "National Anthem"
and then a little 'na, na, na, na, hey hey, hey, Goodbye'
-Steve Goodman, "Dying Cub Fan's Last Request"

LOL! I remember that. I don't know if anyone can still find Hamms, the beer refreshing.

Yeah, even before the Tribune Co bought the Cubs, it didn't seem like old man Wrigley had either the will or deep-pockets to invest what was necessary to make them winners.
But ya can't even make it just once in 60 years? C'mon! What is the freakin' deal?
(And while I'd love to rehash all the episodes in futility that they've experienced in their playoff history, believe me I don't need to be reminded; I was glued to the TV for each gut-wrenching performance, and have had my heart ripped out and replaced each and every time.)

Thanks for the confirmation..... Odd. Even the text and disclaimers were in Spanish.
Not a good sign if we need to know Spanish to understand something going on at the World Freakin' Series!!!

Back to the Goodman song:
"Told his friends "You know the law of averages says:
Anything will happen that can"
That's what it says
"But the last time the Cubs won a National League pennant
Was the year we dropped the bomb on Japan""

Let's go Lamb! We need another RBI!

And this from the company that used to advertise "Baseball, hot dogs, apple pie and Chevrolet".
This is not your father's America.

Actually, I was mistaken. Here's the correct wording.
"From the Land of Sky Blue Waters (Waters),
From the land of pines, lofty balsam,
Comes the beer refreshing,
Hamm's the Beer Refreshing".

Got nothing out of the leadoff double.
So, if that last batter gets up with a chance to
get a run home with a groundout or a flyout (with less than 2 outs), would that make him a...sacrificial Lamb? :)
To: raccoonradio
would that make him a...sacrificial Lamb? Be honest. You've been waiting to use that one, haven't you?
