HI, BQ! Are you going out shopping today? I think I better get a move on or it will get too crowded too quickly.
Just want to get out there and absorb some of the Christmas spirit before it gets too crazy! And it turns into bah humbug! LOL!
Hey Phantom! I tried to go shopping yesterday and it was already manic - on the roads and in the stores by 10:30 am. I couldn't believe it. Bumper to bumper 30 mph in 40 zones. It appears no one works in Tucson on weekdays. I was completely agitated by the time I got home.
Off to do some quick errands - good luck with yours! See ya soon. p.s. how did your chapters go?
What Christmas spirit? I just home from doing a little necessary shopping and all I could see was a bunch of people trying to scarf up the discounted wares of nervous merchants who are hoping to dump their seasonal overstock before the 12th hour. Nobody is smiling and nobody is wishing anybody anything. No Merry Christmas; no Happy Holidays...nothing, and I'm in the Bible Belt. A sign just as you go into Hastings said something like "last minute....we got you covered. Now I guess you have to use your imagination as to what they mean by last minute.
Personally, I wish Christmas would just go away. Oh, not the meaning of Christmas, or the spirit of Christmas, but all the sickening secular, political and commercial crap that has become attached to it. I no longer find any joy in it. I wasn't that fond of the season before, but with each passing year, its approach brings with it an increasing sense of dread.
There was an editorial in our paper this morning talking about the nearly total absence of "Christmas" in advertising and businesses that are exploiting it. It concluded with the following sentiment: "So go ahead stores. Call it what it really is: "The Greed Stampede." Or how about, "Last Chance of the Year to Lift the Sagging Economy" sale?".
Oh well; hope YOU enjoy yourself out there anyway.
