I've had those. Contrary they are. I had good luck with roses in Colorado, but that one was a pain. Planted it the day Tyler was born. I had one in Georgia too, but the bugs got the best of it.
You can see one bloom peeking out in this picture, and it does appear more lavendar than blue.

But the soil there was a dusty semi-acidic strawberry field before it was my yard.
Japanese beetles loved it to no end.
Ortho rose dust worked wonders, but Ortho quit making it like they had.
