The lock analogy doesn't work because there are other things happening to prevent Al Queda from getting to the door.
Hey......I'm not saying everything is peachy, or that they shouldn't be doing better on the border front. NOT. NOT. NOT. saying that. Just disagree with you about the border issue being the smoking gun as to our security not working, when in fact....it is working quite well.
One little problem with that.
AQ hides, for years, in sleeper cells, waiting.
We don't know if they've come through the borders....and we won't know that, either, unless/until they succeed, again.
I don't think leaving doors open does anything but INVITE criminal elements into one's house.
I have to agree with you. It is almost as if things are pretty much back to normal...a lot higher security awareness of course!, but I think our sense of security is returning to normal.
This is not to say we can become complacent or ignore border security, but I think we Americans value our freedom too much and while this attack on American values will be never forgotten, I do believe our sense of national freedom is in the process of returning for many of us.
