Security of our country has been given lip-service, as far as I'm concerned, as long as the borders are kept wide open.

I'm in agreement that the immigration thing is horrendous. It needs fixing, but I don't think it is hopeless, far from it.

That being said, the idea that our security isn't working or has no reality and isn't real because the borders aren't fixed is a screed that is way overblown. I'm not saying there's not a problem so don't go there, but I am saying that Al Queda is losing the war because of the other things that are going on and going on very succesfully. they are being killed one at a time and sometines in bunches. Their leadership is decimated and in hiding and losing its capacity to do anything meaningful but blow up other Muslims (don't thing the Muslims aren't noticing, either). We are winning in Iraq and the War on Terror, and to dismiss that as irrelevant because of the illegals from Mexico is wrong.....and it's simply untrue. The linkage is not real. Not there. That Al Queda is losing is very real.

I read the best analogy regarding our security "system". If someone pays for the best, most expensive, security system possible for their home, and they refuse to turn it on or leave open a back door, what kind of security is that?
