The GOP's Disgraceful Treatment of Judge Terry Boyle (Vanity)
The White House ^ | 10-15-2005 | Me

Judge Boyle, whose nomination to the Fourth Circuit has been delayed since 1991 (ok, he was renominated by GWB), has been out of the Judiciary Committee since June. Yet, here it is October, and the GOP (supposedly the majority?) will not bring his nomination up for a vote. Even accepting a lame excuse like "Roberts preempted him" etc., this delay is shameful and inexcusable.

Perhaps this act of cowardice, much like the traitorous "Gang of 7," is why GWB sends us a hack like Miers for SCOTUS. He knows that the spineless GOPers in the Senate really don't want a Luttig or an Owen (or even a Boyle).

Makes no difference to me: I've had it and I am sitting out '06 and maybe '08. GOP deserves to lose power: we seem to be at our best looking in from the outside anyway.

You are not the only one thinking such thoughts.

Thanks for sharing. Please remember to tell the Doc up the dosage on your meds. BTW, please spare us they fake "I'm a Republican but" spin line of the seminary DNC poster.

Gee, what an intelligent response. I notice, of course, that aside from your ad hominem attack, you failed to rebut the point. If the GOP is so dang great these days, what about Boyle?

We cannot afford to sit out '06 in Missouri. We have a good solid conservative in Jim Talent who sticks to his principles. Same thing for John Kyl in Arizona. If Florida could get Katherine Harris in place of Bill Nelson, and if West Virginia could replace Robert Byrd, the GOP position would be a little stronger.

The WH delay on Boyle may result from his recent decisions against the Navy in NC. His rulings were out of left field.

It's the Senate, not the White House, delaying Boyle, and his rulings were, I believe, affirmed by the 4th Circuit.
