Yeah, I know what you're talking about. They're called a Trooper saddle and quite a few of my riding buddies use them and say they are the most comfortable saddles they've ever ridden. Tucker makes one like this...
but I know an Amish guy in Etheridge, TN that makes a really nice one that's very reasonably priced. He made the one that's on the black horse in this picture. It's several years old and very well worn, but the owner loves it.

Teri called them frogleg shoes, but Chris had never heard of them. He said he understood tho why she want's this done, keeps his foot on the ground longer with will extend his stride...???? I don't get that. Looks to me to do that they would have to extend out the front rather then the back. I'm not getting the mechanics of this, but he did, so I guess I'm OK. I may run him back to the vet and have Teri check it to make sure we've got it right.
