Spending some time with her and not giving her a shot is a good idea. Giving the shot in the rump is a good idea also. Are you making sure the shot comes up to room temps instead of right out of the fridge?
You might also take her favorite treats out for her :)
I was telling Becky I alter her routine but thinking about it in one way I don't. I take her different places and let her graze and stuff but I've been giving it somewhere right before I put her back to the pasture. Last thing . Maybe, I'll give it first today. I draw it up early so it's warm and we go really slow with the medicine. It's the needle, I think. I really don't like giving 10 cc in one site but the alternative is sticking her twice. Usually I just hold her head and show her the treat and give it right after she's stuck so Eddie can push the medicine in.
We changed the routine yesterday but she was already getting fussy. The trainer was there with him but we'll see how she does today back with just the two of us. Also, We have been giving it with the syringe attatched. Friday he couldn't hold on but the needle stayed in. Do you think I should just stick the needle in this time?
Well, I went out there. SL has really got spooked since Friday. She ran from me in the pasture and did not want to come out or go in the barn and locked the brakes about 4 feet from the barn pole. She came on up but acted like it was gonna get her. I rubbed her down, thumped , and scratched her. She eased up but never relaxed until I put her back out in the pasture.
