I would think alot would depend on the horse's needs, and what it's going to be used for ultimately.

Persoanlly, I think snaffles are way overrated:)

the bit is a tom thumb snaffle and he uses that on her and an o-ring. He likes to use the tom thumb because of the shank, he can get more bend in the horse. And the chin strap is so loose on the bit that it does nothing anyhow.
