I had my first setback yesterday with my new little filly. I work with her every day, leading her, cleaning her feet, standing tied, etc., and she's taken it all in with good humor. My daughter also messes with her a little bit. Well, yesterday the vet and his helper came out to do her first shots. I brought her out of her stall, she took one look at those guys and went berzerko. I made the mistake of thinking since she's gotten so used to me that she would be ok with anyone. And it seems to be men that she has a problem with and it would stand to reason, all of her experiences with humans have been with men roping her, chasing her and poking her. All of her experiences with me and my daughter have been quiet, gentle and loving. I'm going to have to get my husband out to mess with her and he really doesn't like messing with the horses. This is important, though, so I think he'll do it.
Oh that's terrible. Poor thing. Did you get her to calm down at all? How is she today?
Did you manage to get her the shots?
Becky
Good morning everyone...
That's a pickle for sure, getting enough men around her to convince her she's wrong about them :~D
