"Unfortunate things are going to happen sometime."

Ain't that the truth! If you handle large animals, you gotta be willing to take some risk. But, if I get killed by a horse, I'd hope my family has sense enough not to put in my obit that I "died doing what I love." Wherever I am, you can rest assured, I'M PISSED.

LOL.. Well I'd be pissed to if I died, but I still loved the riding part. But to tell the truth I'm always more worried about the people I run into at times more then I'm worried about what the horse will do. Don't you think horses actually act better when they are by themselves?

Of course the worst fall I took I was by myself and the horse was the problem that time. That's the fall that finally scared me and got me back into the habit of letting someone know where I'd be. The fall hurt enough that it was hard to get back on, but even worse it happend out in the open, not much shade in the middle of a July afternoon. The heat was appalling and that scared me enought to get my butt back in the saddle and head home. It wouldn't take long to croak in that heat. I had water but not alot. I wasn't far from home, but to far to walk. Of course the creek was close...Still I got nervous that day out there.
