This is at the bottom of the steep climb. It's not that steep here, but about 1/2 way up it really gets steeper and there are big flat rocks on the surface that make it scary, wondering if the horse will slip, but they never have so I guess I should stop worrying about it after all these years:). It was a real trick holding myself up out of the saddle, while holding the reins and taking pictures:)
This spot is where I rolled off Belle one time coming down this hill. It was when she was pregnant with Dot and I had taken my back cinch off. She was heading down at a really sharp angle, but still bent down to try and get a bite. I think with the pressure that put on the breast collar it caused the back of the saddle to raise up and tipped me right off. I just did a slow somersault over her head. I laid there laughing it was such a funny fall. But I did hit the horn....ouch....had a horrible black bruise.
We are still climbing here. You can see the rocks.
This is now from the west side of the creek looking back at the east side where I was earlier. That line of shadow down the hill is where I took those other pictures from.
Here I have made the turn back to the north and am riding along the top of the ridge above the creek on the west side.
Ok that's it for now. I've got to go run some earrands. I'll post some more when I get back if you all aren't bored of looking at Harley's ears:)
If FR running slow for you all?
Becky
Yeah - FR very slow, it's not just you. :~D
The rocks at the top of that climb do look slippery, I think I'd always say "watch your feet" on that spot.
Funny fall story on Belle.... did it happen fast or really slow?
I've got to go now too, grab some breakfast and head to town for errands of my own I put off yesterday. Post all the pics you want, I'll be back later!
Yeah, it is real slow today.
LOVE the PICS!!
The steepness of climbs and descents never really shows up well in pictures, I try to show that too in some of my pics, and it never really shows what it was like, it looks flat. So I can appreciate what the pics ~don't~ show on those.
Good pics Becky! We're starting to get a little color around here too but it's been so dry that the leaves will probably just fall off before it gets very colorful. FR has been really slow for me too. I was getting ready to reboot my PC to see if that was the problem when you said something, so you saved me the trouble. Thanks!
