This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Ohhh bummer - well it's just a little higher resolution and it's longer... but you saw the good part.
LOL - I think she handled that well :)
It cracks me up :~D
One of these days I'll have to figure out how to post videos - I have the camera, just never use it to make videos, and haven't a clue as to what to do with them if I did.
Well, I thought we had a cool deal with the snapfish thing... but those links don't last very long ;~\
ecurbh showed me how to load them to our webspace...
They're a fun way to share more than just a picture can :~D
Any sign of baby horse?
Nothing yet. She's been waxed up for four days now I think. Since she's a maiden mare we don't have a history to go by but she's at 346 days now. I had a dream that she had a dun filly, friend had a dream she had a white filly with spots and a star :), don't ya know it will probably be a stud colt.
Are yall still having bad weather?
No snow but down in the single digits at night. Sun shiny day today, in the 40's. It's supposed to get up in the 50's by the weekend.
I don't know how close I'm going to get to your area but I guess I better bring a coat. I'm leaving tomorrow. I have no idea where I'm going or when I'm coming back. My Dad just says we wii go where we want and come back when we want. That's kind of stressful for a planner like me:')
Sounds like you will have a good time. Have fun and pop in at a library to post and keep us up to date.
Yeah, I'm looking forward to it. I know we have to be in Phoenix , Friday morning.
Hair, wish I would have checked thread last night before bedtime. Now, I have to wait until I get home to see video.
My mare took a similar fall in the hunting field with me on her . . . EEEK! . . . fortunately she didn't panic, just rolled onto her chest and looked for me to make sure I was o.k. and not under her feet before she tried to get up. But her eyes were as big as baseballs . . .
As far as we could tell, she did the same thing - lost traction and her feet shot out from under her sideways.
lol. I'm sorry that was so cute. (wouldnt be funny if she got hurt.) How do you get those shots?! She has great balance. Got right up, brushed herself off, bucked at the "thing" that made her fall and regained her dignity. Clearly something tripped her. It's like when you trip on the street. Notice how everyone always looks back as if SOMETHING ELSE caused their (our our) own clutziness. Too cute. Thanks for sharing your photos. They are great. ;)
LOL!! I love the snakey-necking too. You can just about read her mind. First she gets up and she's all embarassed, like "You didn't see me do that...You did NOT see me do that!". Then she gets mad at Pony..."DAMMIT! You made me FALL!" Soooo funny!
Jack Bauer can put his boots under my bed anytime! I love that show. But, what an emotional thrill ride it is!
Good morning :~D Glad you enjoyed the video... was too good to not share :~D they'd been running awhile and fussing with each other... Thought I might get some good bucking and playing shots.
I watched her move a bit after she fell, looking to see if she sprained or pulled somethin'... but she was still furious so she wouldn't let me catch her right then and took off runnin'... I determined she was fine ;~D
She went down so fast I couldn't tell what happened really till I could go back in the house and watch it again, several times ;~D I think when the pony runs by, she's laughing ;~D
Me too! She's going "Na-Na Na-Na Naaaa NAAAA!"
Looking at the video, I could tell that she went down really easy, in a really soft-looking spot. A stunt pony in the movies couldn't have done it any better. She just tried to cut a little too sharp. She hurt her pride worse than anything else.
Tennessee did that one time, back when he was my only horse. We used to have this little game where I'd be standing out in the pasture and all of a sudden I'd squat down real quick and slap my thighs real loud with both hands and stomp my feet at the same time. It kinda sounded like "The Thundering Herd" and he'd take off running and bucking and farting across the pasture, but then he'd come running right back up to me with a screaching halt and stand there on a hair trigger like "Do it again!" and I'd do it and he'd go tearing off again. It was really funny, but one day it was really muddy out there and when he went to make his home stretch cut, his feet shot out from under him just like Cyn's, except he actually rolled over far enough that all four feet were pointing straight up in the air. Well, needless to say, I laughed like a jackass, and you could tell it just embarassed the heck out of him, just like it did Cyn, and I think he was mad at me for a while for laughing, but he got over it pretty quick. Thankfully most horses don't hold grudges very long. ;o)
