This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Honey!
Sorry, I was just trying to get to a new page is all... there was a picture making it load really slow.
OK hon... it looked like you'd gone mad!
I think it was the dolls muckin' it up.
I figured there was a cat on the keyboard or something.
Speaking of dolls, we want an Ecurbh doll!
Looking back, there wasn't a doll on that page, just cat belly pictures, so I don't know what could've been making that page load slow. It loaded fine for me.
Ok, I got hold of the saddle shop. The saddle man will be there between 3-5 this afternoon.
The girl I talked to asked me what the problem was. I gave her a very brief history about the western and the english. She says, The western is too narrow, and the english is too short????? She also said Engish saddles are notorious for causing sore loins???? Any comment about that:). I know from pictures it's hard to tell, but would you say Harley is a long backed horse?
Anyway, I'm going over there this afternoon with all the saddles I've put on him and see what happens.
Becky
Well, I dunno... You might be getting some western/english bias from her over the phone too... I just hope when they go look, they can find a combination of stuff that works.
Harley's not overly long, no.
You must load 50 to a page... we load 100.
They weren't causing me grief either.... just muh husband ;~D
Well, I'm back from the vets with the kitten. The operating vet thinks it's a seroma, and that it will go down by itself, but she has a 103 temp, so they started her on the bubble gum antibiotics.
Thank you all, I hope he's right and it goes down without more troubles. She's not all that fond of the drops... it's gonna take a towel to dose her, she got me with a back foot pretty good when I was tryin' to hold her for it at the clinic. ;~D
I didn't think it was too bad a scratch, but the vet made me wash it up good put a band-aid on me, said "trust me, I'm a doctor".
Kinda looks like a hernia. Did you call the vet back and ask about it?
Yeah - just got back from the clinic with her.... post right above yours.
Shoulda read all the posts I missed BEFORE answering! LOL!
Doesn't everybody carry a saber when they ride their horses here?
I'm sure glad to hear that Tweek's gonna be ok coz it sure did look troubling. That's funny about her not liking the Amoxi Drops. Most of mine don't mind them at all. The towel is a good idea though. It used to take a towel (and two people) to clip my mother's cat's toenails. Not fun! She got to where she'd run when she saw anybody with a towel. It's amazing how all the bones in a cat's body can just suddenly disappear and they can contort themselves around and hook you before you even know what's happening.
I prefer a light sabre, thankyouverymuch! ;o)
How much temprature is that for a cat?
OOWWWWWW....cat scratches can really sting, and itch.
Becky
So what'd the saddle guy say?
I'm not going till about 3.
Becky
Mine is a 1860 Cavalry sabre, reproduction, that I plan on offering For Sale along with my saddle.
I have always wondered about those sabres that have the scabbard fastened to the saddle. After the horse rolls on the scabbard a couple times, are they called sway-bres? The new curve in the blades really stands out.........
