The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

I don't know about panels, but glad things are moving along with Ranger!

You said he's getting work every day... Did he get haltered and started then? Did you tell us how that went and I missed it?

LOL....he never mentioned they said that:)

What did I think of 24.

1. I'd hate to be Walt Cummings:)
2. I'd hate to be the husband of the presidents wife right now:)
3. I still don't like Audrey, and wish Jack would stay with the lady with the kid.
4. AND, I think the story line that popped out about the bad guys is going to raise a ruckus right here on FR:)

1. We had to immediately back up and watch the scene with Walt again. I was peeking from behind my fingers the first time afraid to look ;~D

2. FLOTUS is not pleased, you're right ;~D

3. I don't love Audrey either... you know who I liked best with Jack? Kate... the blonde sister in season 2 (?)

4. That story is kindof raising a ruckus here.

Henkell is my dressage horse. He had an injury over a year ago that he is just coming back into work from. I have had him back under saddle for only a few months. We were schooling 2nd level movements but were showing at Training Level. I had not quite made the jump to 1st Level in showing when he was injured. So, a few steps backward but he is very athletic and talented, and we will make up the time quickly.

Patton was involved in saving the Lippizaner breeding herd for the Spanish Riding School from the Russians during WWII. He did bring some Lippys back with him.

It is hard to say what that particular horse would sell for. A horse is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it. Before venturing a guess, I would have to see conformation shots and video of all three gaits to assess the horse properly. There are a few things about the ad that would cause me to proceed very carefully. First, no actual location or address is given. The ad says that the horse is "full-papered" but no registration number is listed although the ad does mention that the horse is in the Czech registry. This is not a very well known registry. And, he is listed as "make offer". Legitimate breeders and sellers in Germany know what their horses will bring on the market. I would not make an offer except contingent on a full vet check by a vet not known by or associated with the seller in any way. And, if I were serious about the horse, I would engage a reputable agent to represent my interests and pay the commission. It appears that the only way to contact the seller is through the online form provided in the ad. I took at look at all the ads for this seller and it appears that this seller specializes in buckskin, palomino and cremello warmbloods. Here is the website for a reputable breeder of differently colored warmbloods in Germany: http://www.gestuet-falkenhorst.de/gfhome.html .

Trakehners excell in many disciplines including eventing, dressage, jumping, and hunters.

Well, it moves so fast you might not enjoy it till you figure out what it's all about. I know Hair started watching mid season last year and liked it.

IMO, the best thing for you to do would be go rent one of the past seasons and watch that. You'll enjoy it alot more.

But it's a great show. Very suspenceful, wear you out just watching type show:)

Sounds like my kind of show. What nights is it on? I really don't watch much TV at all...

LOL,, I don't know about spooky, I'm so skeptical of that sort of thing, but I know Chris wasn't lying, so I don't know what to think. I asked him what it cost his mother and it was $75 and that was only if she thought it worth it....

Mon nites.

Do you know the premise? It's called 24 because the whole show covers a 24 hour period. Each episode is one hour of the day. I think we're at about the 7th hour this season.

Jack Bauer the main character works for a goverment agency CTU, Counter Terroriest Unit. Jack is not adverse to applying any amonut of pressure on a person to get the info he want's:). Like shooting a knee cap off right at the CTU headquarters...:) Or shooting the head of CTU to save the world.

Watch an episode to get a feel for the pace and the quality of it... and if you dig it, then go start at the beginning... Season 1.

We did pick it up midway through last season, but there was a lot we didn't truly 'get' till we went back and watched the DVDs.

LOL...yeah, I don't care what he promised them at CTU about no revenge. You know he's not going to let that guy off for killing David Palmer. Not gonna do it:)
Wouldn't be prudent at this juncture:)

My favorite quote of all time I think from this season...

"The only reason you're conscious right now is that I don't want to have to carry you."

Yup, I know why it's called 24, I've just never actually seen an episode. I'll have to find season 1 and watch it.

...horse psychic...

Hmmmmmm. Sounds interesting. I always wondered how they could pick out individual animals at a distance like that, out of the millions and millions between her and them. I could come a little closer to believeing if they were right there with the animal. I used to watch that little ol' biddie on Animal Planet and she used to crack me up. I always figured that she was picking up hints about the animals in her conversations with the owners, but who knows. Maybe they really can do that. I guess I'm a little skeptical, but if everything she said was true, then you've gotta wonder. You'll have to get her name and number just in case any of us need to call her.

LOL!! Sounds like a good reason to me!

I uploaded the two pictures I managed to take on Saturday's ride before the camera batteries ran out and here they are...

The trails in our Forest get a little rocky and washed in places, but they make for an interesting ride...

When I was showing dogs in obedience, I became acquainted in class with a lady who said she was psychically connected to her dog... That she communicated what she wanted telepathically.

Now.. her dog did seem really in sync with her, but it was a female Golden... They LIVE to be in sync with people ;~D

So anyway, we were practicing our long sits... where the dogs sit in a row on the far side of the room. (this had always been a sticky point with my dog... he liked to mount the dog next to him, but this is not his story)

She was trying to 'help' me by telling me how she just 'thinks' to the dog, and pictures the dog doing what she wants. And the dog will respond. I said "Logan knows what I want, he just has a better idea for what he wants and doesn't give a rip what I think"... she went on about her dog, and her dog layed down on the sit... a fault.

I said "so what's your dog thinking now?" she said "She doesn't like me talking about her".
