This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Well, phooey if I can tell, but if it was bridging, wouldn't you have the dry pressure points at front and back? It could also be that he's only just barely sweating enough to really tell, and where the pad get's good contact along the bars, the pad is wicking it up and he stays wetter where the saddle ~isnt~ because he's got his winter coat on.
That said, I'd ride with the cashell all the time, because the cushioning in the saddle and the pad will form fit him to some degree over time and I think it's better if you keep it consistant.
We looked a little like an odd parade to people driving by, I bet...
Leading the way, Homer...
Horses tagging along, sortof :~D
Oh - on the walk above... The first time I went, I felt fine... this time though, with ecurbh with me, he started out way too fast, he's got longer legs, for one, but also because Homer was pullin' him along and ecurbh was lettin' him... so I didn't really warm up easy and got a charlie horse in my calf that didn't get all the way better till we got back.
I hate that when I cramp up. I think the starting out speed was the problem, but I should probably eat more bananas too :~D
I was wondering if you had been walking, but didn't want to be a nagger:)
I'm taking Sunday's off. But I've been getting 2 walks of 2000 steps everyday since I started. Tomorrow I plan on adding to the distance.
I have problems with my shins hurting, after a few days. I've always had that problem whenever I first start a walking program. It stops bothering me after awhile.
That's funny the way your horses follow. I bet you do look funny to people passing:). My dogs all go with me on my walk, the cat even followed one day part way.
Maybe try some gatorade or something to help the cramps.

I guess I'm going to agree that I should be riding with that cushion all the time:). It's just a pain to deal with. You have to take the pad completly loose from the saddle. That was one thing I really really liked about the English Saddle and Pad. How they hooked together, and stayed in place so well. I can still hook the pad to the saddle with the cushion inbetween, but you can't leave it when not useing it or it ruins the cushion from what I understand.
Becky
I hadn't been walking again till today... It's been pouring out and I said 'phooey' on that.
Cyn followed us the whole way, the others gave up and just stood in the middle looking at us like an oddity :~D
They are a pain. I agree. The cashell's always falling on the floor in the trailer and it won't stay put.
I can slip the cashell in between the saddle and pad with them still all connected, and I usually slip it back out and set it on top to store.
Well, I guess I need to try again just slipping it in without unhooking everything. I had trouble with the pad bunching up. I don't have a lot of patience with that kind of thing.
Becky
Understood ;~D
What is yall's number of posts?
I looked at the sight. Nice. I'm going to check these out. I'm looking for an almost new one though. The cost of a couple motel rooms a month would pay for one.
29,397, But that would be for both Mack and me.
Becky
That would be 5879 per year, 2939 for each of us per year:)
What's yours?
Becky
Yall came on board about the same time I did. I'm 23730 all by myself:') That's only about 13 posts a day though lol.
245 per month, each of us, 55 per week:), 8 per day.
Averages:)
That's not too bad. I thought it would have been worse:)
Becky
Seems like it ought to be more then that does't it?
Becky

My husband has less than 10,000
I am so glad to hear she will pull through. I'll keep saying a prayer for awhile.
