The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Oh - I accidently took a movie when I went out there today while they were goofin' off... accidental movies are easy to do on my camera. It's just short, it shows Bay tryin' to round up his ladies...

Yes, finally the rain has stopped. It was sunny today with several more days of sunshine expected. Still very muddy but drying out.

I don't have an Appy myself now, but my daughter does. She has a rescued Appy mare who was seized during a drug raid. My daughter was a cop at the time. The mare was heavily pregnant and about a 2 on the Heineke scale. My daughter took her in and a miracle occurred: she foaled a healthy colt a few weeks later. The colt is now 3 years old. Here are photos of them. The mare is not real pretty, but is just the sweetest thing.



She is broke to drive:

Yay! I am an official appaloosa lover now. LOL I sould start my own group called the "I love MY appaloosa" group. The only kind of appaloosa that I think is pretty is the "appaloosa quarters" but the other kinds of appaloosas are cool, too. Really, I don't care what color the horse is! Just sign me up for the "I love horses" group!!!!

Good morning,
No flood damage to the barn, thank God - no real damage anywhere. Just muddy now and Bob has gotten most of the water pumped out to the road so the paddocks and pastures are drying out.

Oh, thank you for the pictures. The mare looks like a sweety :) and the picture of the foal looks like mischief in the making :) I really like the mare's coloring - she looks like she has a lot of old foundation breeding.

LOL - tell me this isn't a pretty appy. No quarter horse until one great-great-granddam.

I do know what you mean though, just giving you a hard time. Quarter horses with spots are one of my pet peeves I guess. By the way, I do have one of those too.
