This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

I know... we can click a lot of pictures of horses in motion and only once in awhile to we really capture their essence.
Sounds like good birthday and Christmas gift material to me. Good Deal! I really like Replacements LTD. You can find just about any pattern ever made there. I ordered some of my MIL's really old good china from there. They don't even make it any more, but I guess they buy old china from people or estates or something and resell it.
I just finished watching the Rose Parade, we recorded it this morning. I was a bit disappointed in the coverage, the gave very little info on what the floats were made of. I always liked hearing that kind of stuff:(. There didn't seem to be many horses in it either. One set of Andalusians, and one of them was doing the big stepping walk they can do. There were some of those big black kind that Hair likes, Percherons??? They were pretty, pulling a carriage. The floats were spectacular tho.Absolutly amazing that people make them.

If the Andalusions were real dappled maybe that's what CindyDawg saw.
The black horses I have talked about might be Fresians... they're a big horse, but I'd call them a ~light~ draft. They're still light enough to be a good riding horse. They have lots of mane and tail usually, feathered feet.
Percherons are a full heavy draft pulling horse.
I think these were Percherons, but you it was fresians you talked about. I'm mixed up:)

Well, I do think the big heavy draft breeds are all magnificent.
The storm has finally gone. Tornado watch and warnings over.... It's nearly 10 pm and the rain has quit. When I went outside earlier it was like we had built our house in the middle of a pond. I have never seen it like that before. Lightening shooed me back inside as quick as I could go after feeding the animals.
Hopefully we'll have your sunshine tommorow! :)

Duchess, Our place looks a bit like yours, but with grass and trees. The pond at the end of our road has overflowed as have most places around here.
The boys want to go outside to see if they can catch any fish in our driveway....does that say anything? LOL
We need some sun, Becky, Tuffy and Cindydawg need our rain.
It's strange weather to be sure! I'm looking forward to hiking in the snow later this week in Virginia. Deaconjim will find out for the first time that a lass from Scotland has had a lot more practice in snowball fights than a lad from georgia! Hehe! :D

I hope everyone is faring well with their weather conditions. We have had a lot of rain the past few days. Temps in 40's, but so dark and cloudy, it gets so depressing.

Morning all. It was pretty bad but we needed the rain. I think my rye grass is coming up!! It takes so little to make us horse owners happy. ;)
LOL, so true:). I'd give anything to have something growing out in my pasture right now:). I'm considering rye grass in whatever mix I do finally seed with.
