The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Well a rain maker coming in from the south would be good but the west winds are going to turn it north (according to the experts)

I just thought of something. Friday I noticed that the orange get out signs were up on a "cane" field. Surely they aren't fixing to burn.

Well, may we all stay safe from weather dangers tonight, and squarebarb, I hope your mare recovers and soon. She's an aged mare, right?

Heh... or in the barn. The barn's a good solid structure with big beams.... a lot stronger than this box we live in :~D

Good night.

That's what's really important :~D As you can see, I haven't really logged off yet.

Finally got our TV on the OKC fires, and it just looks very scary. Don't burn your feed sacks tomorrow.

Is there any rain promised in your future?

No rain in the next 7 days is forecast. I just got in from feeding and just since I got home from the kids about an hour ago, there is a very strong smell of smoke out there now. Hard to imagine that it's all the way from the city, but I've heard of no fires close to us.

While I was feeding I saw Grizzly carrying something around. It was a possoum, and I don't think it's dead. He dropped it in the yard, I poked it with a stick and you could see it tighen up more in a ball:). Kind of funny, they're so ugly.

We are under a burn ban but had fireworks:') They probably just leave these signs up all year , the fire department sits out there etc.

I despise possums, let Grizzly have a nice snack.

We have an armadillo living under one of our storage barns. I don't like them, either.

Oh don't talk to me about gas. I have a problem with my stomach that flares up from time to time. I've been so hungry but haven't been able to eat much the last couple of days because of "burp" attacks:')

They're pretty nasty creatures:), but Mack told me to make him leave it alone. It's not like he "needs" it. I'm sorry, but I'm not too worried about the thing, but I don't want to get up and have a pile of guts laying out there to deal with....especially possum guts.

The way the dogs were skirting it, I'd say they figured out it aint worth it:)

LOL...no, Really Hair, my horses would be very safe. They have eaten the pasture so far down there is nothing out there now but rocks and dirt. Nothing left to burn. Even the leaves have all blown away. There really wouldn't be anything to worry about even if the fire was close here.
