Oh boy, praying for your safety tonight too. With all the moisture you've had, high winds are not good.
My son was stationed at Fort Sill. Beautiful country from WF to OKC but mostly prairie. I hadn't realized there was that much cattle in the U.S. :')
We were dry today, so we aren't as waterlogged and soft as we might have been. This particular patch of ground drains pretty quickly.
Do you have a safe room that is away from the trees that yall can sleep in tonight?
I'm glad to hear that, I concur with Cindy - sleep in a safe room tonight just incase.
We are about 2 hours north and a little east of OK City.
So far I've not seen any or heard of any fires around here. The kids pasture burned the other night, it got close to Jenny's house but the fire dept got it put out.
It wouldn't be good around here right now if a fire was to start.but our house and property would not be in danger. The wind is still blowing alot.
We really do need some rain.
Becky
It is beautiful up there, isn't it? I'd move there in a heartbeat.
(((((squarebarb))))
Are you watching Fox or CNN? Un-friggin-believable.
You had posted a snowy picture scene with the trees behind your fence. I was showing it to my kids and we were marvelling at the size of those trees in relation to the fence. We don't have trees like that here. Just the thought of the wind blowing down one of those monsters sends chills up my spine.
Take care tonight.
No, Mack is watching something. We just got home from visiting with Charlie and Kristy. I didn't know anything was going on. Mack says it's just a slow news night:), otherwise nothing in OK ever gets talked about.
I checked out the thread about these fires, it really looks bad. I'm sorry for the people there. Conditions here are really getting serious.
Becky
I wish squarebarb would post, she seems to have disappeared. Prayers for the horse...
We are all having some type of a problem today, aren't we?
But you did all you could
With wild animals its always questionable but I can certainly understand
your disappointment & sadness
They are showing the landscape from a helicopter and when they pan out, the amount of fire is incredible.
Let me guess, Mack is watching Desperate Housewives?
I'm sorry about your horse. I hope things work out for the best.
Becky
Yeah - if one of the firs were to go down, they tend to go all the way to the ground no matter what might be in the way. They're very heavy. But they're also strong. It doesn't feel as windy here as it was in Tacoma, we won't lose trees unless they're sick, but even some of the branches can be damaging.
LOL, no he's recording that so we can watch it without commericals. I'm not sure what he's watching:)
He's got it paused right now, I'll run in there and take a look.
Becky
They decorated each kids room with a different horse theme according to what they were into, barrel racing, ropin' etc
Very heart warming
In Michigan we have had unseasonable warm weather, today it was 40 degrees
Floods in NV, muslides in CA and brush fires in TX cause its been so dry there,
very strange weather everywhere
It's not going anywhere but we have our 1st tropical storm of the year in the Atlantic too.
Lets hope it gets stalled in the Atlantic
