The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Good morning.... vet appt this morning in town for the kittens - to get their shots.

I was thinking of using the appt to have Cartman looked at too, but his ear's gonna heal just fine.

We've still got our snow hanging around... no new, but it's staying cold.

S'posed to snow Wednesday! I hope so! We sure need it!

One of the ladies in my homeschool group wrote and told about how capable citizens came and helped fight the fire on 141st going toward Coweta during that windy evening when your barn blew over! Her husband helped fight it and she stayed at home and got ready to evacuate. The fire didn't threaten her house, thankfully, but they managed to keep it from burning down a church.

Once again, I'm proud to live in this state! The citizens stepped up and worked side by side with the government in an emergency. So typical of Oklahomans.

Awfully quiet in here???

Tomorrows high is suppose to be 18, damn! And possible 2-6 inches of snow.

I don't think it ever made it above freezing yesterday.

I hate winter:)

We're getting a snowstorm right now. Bah. It's supposed to back up to the 40s by the weekend. I hope so, because I want to ride.

Quite a mess in downtown Tulsa, eh?

All that water from the mains breaking...that's what caused the power outage, right?

Heh!!

Major water main broke in downtown. BOK building basement flooded. Electricity went out. Shut down the Tulsa World (yeah!) and almost all of downtown was in the dark last night to the point that when the news showed the skyline, you couldn't see it!

Big mess and a lot of businesses and of course with this 15 degree temp, causing more problems.

News says that because the ground is so dry there isn't any insulation around the pipes and they just snap.

It's 18 here now:(.

We spent the day yesterday fussing with our bank. They have merged with another and everything is screwed up. The bank web site didn't even show our business acct.....sigh, I hate banks as much as I hate winter:)

Mack has all the barn walls fixed. Replaced the broken support poles, has the tin all on. It looks very good. Now the roof and getting electric back to it, then the fence, then the horses can have shelter again.

Good progress on the barn, good going Mack!.... post some project pictures?

Bank troubles are scary though! Especially because in my case, I've never had any that weren't my fault.

Hate winter, hate banks.... OK - got it :~D

I'm encouraged because it looks like it's gonna be dry here for several days... and that will help my mood if the mud dries up. This really is good ground, if it can stop raining, our mud goes away fast. I've been in other places where paddocks and gate openings stay muddy and never dry out. This place drains really good, if it can just get a break.
