I went off on a search after posting to you and the kit I found closest to you was still $5k+.
It'll prolly be easier to set up some kind of lean-to if you can't put a true barn together out of the spare parts. :-D
Won't be perfect, but it'll keep the winds off of them!
Will do. There are always the big rides into San Antonio from various points, for the opening Feb 2nd(?) of the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo.
But you're up by Denton, right?
Let me know I'll keep an eye out.
Sounds like a tornado! Sorry to hear it glad all are okay.
No, I'm south of you. Brownsville. By Mexico.
What a riot, eh??? I've been wondering about you all evening with all the fires in the area!
I was standing in garage and the jedis were riding their bikes in the drive...kinda experiencing the weather, when a "gustnado" came right down the street and hit our house...I was reaching out to get the jedis and couldn't see for all the debris flying around! I was just reaching out blind!
An unbelievable experience!
I can believe it blew your barn apart, though...incredible!!
Good heavens!
Are you afraid of fire?? That's what I kept thinking about when I thought of you!
We've been without power off and on all evening. On now.
Why are there fires? was there lightning with this too?
Holy cow, Becky! I'm so sorry you lost your barn!! The wind was blowing like crazy here yesterday, too. We have some tree limbs down in the driveway but no major damage. The sky was just black with dust. We have lots of fires around right now, as well. None near me currently but there is a big one near my parents home, been burning all night.
"Why are there fires? was there lightning with this too?"
It's so dry here that all it takes is a lit cigarette thrown out of a car window. The wind fuels a small fire into a wildfire.
"But you're up by Denton, right?"
I'm the one that's near Denton.
We had no problem with our electric, but ours comes from Okmulgee. Lots of times when Bixby is down we are still up.
The closest fire to us was at Hgwy 75, and 16. That's pretty far from me, but was getting close to my children. I could smell fire tho everytime I went outside, so it must have been a heck of a fire for us to smell it.
Well luckily this morning what little of my barn was standing last night is still standing. But looking at the piece of roof out in the woods, I have no clue how it could have landed there, and I saw it go:).... It was actually rather neat. I had just walked out to check the horses and had come back up to the patio when I heard a roaring sound. I looked over at my new neighbors and saw it comeing. Their trees were laying over and stuff was blowing all over, but the wind hadn't reached my place yet. You could see it move, and when it hit the barn the roof just peeled off. The weather man showed a map of the speed of the wind gusts and if that was right we got hit with 61 mph winds. I guess since the wind was out of the south a gust just got under the roof of the barn and lifted the one end right out of the ground and tore it loose. We mostly don't get that strong of wind from the south, usually from the north, like they are blowing this morning.
Becky
Our sky was full of dirt too. :), the weathermen said it was from Tx.
Becky
I wondered that myself. I guess because things are just soooooo dry, and then add the high wind it just took any tiny spark to get one started. I don't think we had any lightening.
Becky
Gosh Becky, I am so glad you and Mack are ok. I didn't get back on last night, and will have to check the pictures when I get home. What a scary ordeal. We are suppose to get high winds here later. AND it's going to be almost 70! What crazy weather. Snow storms one day and record setting temps a few days later. Sorry Hair, no pictures of snow now.
It was from West Texas. My mother in law in Abilene sent me a pic of her sky. Incredible.
How is your husband doing now? I've had pneumonia, I know how much it hurts. I hope he's better today.
He's on the mend, still taking his antibiotics and taking it easy around the house. He does seem to feel much better, thanks for asking.
I remember getting ~really~ tired of it.
Send pictures of guns and dog..LOL
