This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Mis Accident-Prone-and-catches-anything-going-around is looking a lot better after a LOT of penicillin.
I normally can't give shots very well but seeing as there was no alternative I did okay.
I threw out the free PCN that I had. The breaker kicked and my frig in the garage went down.
I got mine from a neighbor that has prize goats and always had plenty of meds on hand, thank heaven. I tell you Miss AP ain't looking too good. To the vet Monday.
Did you go on that Corpus trail ride? How was it?
My horse just got over some kind of respiratory infection. I didn't medicate though because it was going around and clearing up after 3 days. She followed the norm. I was brushing her. She usually likes me to rub the neck crease firmly with the rubber curry but this time she tried to bite me. I though she was just being a brat for a few other reasons. The next day her nose was snotty though. Her gland area was probably sore.
No. I didn't get to go. I had to go to a baby shower instead. Seriously, it was something I couldn't get out of:') Let me know if you hear of any rides between your place and mine.
I lost my barn today in the wind storm blowing thru here. Pictures later:( Horses are fine, but way out back, and too jumpy right now for me to go get them. I think they are safer where their at.

How;s it going in town 2J. It's been pretty scary here. Our barn blew to pieces, now I have big pieces of tin flying around. But not one tree so far has come down.

Well the play was amazing. Between the costumes and the puppetering... Zazu was the best. I'd recommend it to anyone.
Good grief! I am so glad the horses are alright, but how horrible. What happened? did you just have it come apart or blow over or what? I guess I'll know when I see the pictures.

So it's not over yet? Gads... Is your fencing intact without it? I thought it was your fencing connected to!
The pictures are loading, but I'm trying to cook supper right now.
Harley's stall, and the feed room stall next to it just ripped off and blew out back, and part of the roof of the stall next to it. Then just a little while later the rest of the roof just peeled off and blew out into the pasture, I saw that happen and really thought the piece was going over the trees. It's stuck out there now.

Yeah, probably they are. Man, that's rough. Have the winds settled down yet? I saw earlier that a large line coming thru Arkansas and they were worried about tornados.
The perimeter fencing is fine. They can't get off our property. I just have no place to move them away from all the mess. And, no it's not over, we are suppose to get high wind all night. Not like what blowed the barn down, but now whats left is pretty shaky so it could go too. They're saying we had 50+ mph winds, tonight it's suppose to drop to 25-30.

Oh, but the fencing that seperates Rock from Harely is gone...that's my biggest worry. We pulled some panels into a circle to put him in, but I'm not ready to go get him. They were doing fine. I think their too spooked to fight with each other.

I think this is the roof of the 2 end stalls.
The back wall just fell over
Front view.
Then about 20 minutes later the rest of the roof on the 3 stalls still standing peel off and blew off into Rocky's pasture side.
What was still standing before it got dark.
What's left is leaning real bad to the back. I don't know if it can be salvaged at all.
