The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Gonna try to nail him in the butt with a bb gun.

And try to keep the old blind cat in at night, even though he wants to be out.

Too many houses around, and look at all the pets and horses that might be downrange. I can't be shooting rifles, or anything that might leave the property. There's a house right behind him.

Happy Thanksgiving:)

I have my cooking started, and the table set. Mack and I will eat about 1:00. I think then we are going to go to a store in Tulsa that is having a sale on some stuff we need to get. I hate patronizing stores that are open on the holidays, but the sale is too good to pass up.

Everyone have a wonderful day.

The pictures of your kitties is cute:), and the one of the coyote is cool. I never did have my camera with me when the coyotes came in that close. They do get very bold. Funny tho why they are coming in close to your place???? What is attracting them?

Sorry about your friend. They can jump out from under you. I hope she recovers completely and can ride again some day.

Heh... That's funny!

Happy Thanksgiving to you too... ecurbh and I are just hangin' out today, our family gathering is tomorrow.

I think the coyote was just out there huntin' bunnies... he may be venturing closer to the compound because of all the squirrels. I have probably a dozen very fat squirrels who scamper around the yard fairly fearlessly.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

My plans are shot today. Like Estrogen said, we are having a big snow storm today. I really don't feel like taking a chance on driving 40 miles. the wind is really bad. I have a fire going, and will have a bowl of chili. Maybe the kids will bring me back a care package from the other side of relatives..lol

Oh dear :~D I guess it doesn't sound good to go out and rub some butter on the horse's feet and go for a ride in the winter wonderland?

That sound nice though. (chilli and a fire). I was pulling out my cook books and looking at an old 4H. My youngest is 23. I was looking at his entry a few minutes ago when he was 8

Daddy's Chilli

1 big pot and a big spoon

a measuring cup

2 pounds lean ground chuck

4 (4 ounce) cans of tomato sauce

1/2 cup of water

2 packages of chilli mix

sprinkle of salk

sprinkle of pepper

Cook the hamburger meat until brown, on number 7. Pour off the fat. Pour in the tomato sauce.pour in a half cup of water. Put the chilli mix in. Add the salt and pepper. Turn the burner to number 5 and cook it for 30 minutes. Stir it about every 5 minutes. Serve immediately and put what's left in the refrigerator. This will make 5 people 2 bowls of chilli with a little left over for the cat.

Ah, isn't that cute. Leave some for the cat. It's funny to go back and read things from our younger days.
