The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

We are too but she's starting to get wooly. We only had that one cold spell. Hair thinks it has more with light. That might explain Okie. There aren't any trees in his pasture and it's sunny. A lot of hers is shady.

Good Late morning all.....
Thunderstorms and lightening here this morning. Sure is unusual for this time of year...close to 60 today.

Hair...bales are sure easy to handle,

Yes, they are. One man who would deliver bulk sawdust, would push it back into a shed we have for storage. His son delivered the last time, and just dumped in the front of the shed. Sawdust had to be shoveled then. It would be so cool, to have a top that tipped up and the truck could back up and dump right there.

I thought maybe the shavings would be a lower cost, with the timber industry near by.

You'd think.... but I guess not.

It's hours of daylight hours versus hours of darkness, I don't think sun/shade would make that much of a difference, could be SL just wools out sooner anyway... did they both get equally wooly last year?

Cyn never grows a coat to speak of.... 10 points for tidy, minus 10 points for staying warm in the cold :~D

Good morning.

We have gotten so much wind the last few days, the leaves on alot of the trees have already all blown off. But it has been unusally warm. We had to turn the AC back on last night.

Tonight the girls and I are going to see Beauty and the Beast on stage. Looking forward to that.

Becky

I think we are going to go to Olive Garden:)

I think I've said it before but IMO, the 1st and 2nd seasons were the the best:) Have fun.

Hey, there.
Remember back when I asked about leather and hides and stuff because I was going to start making bullwhips? Well, I finished my first one last week. Here it is:

It only took about 16 hours total. 10-plait, 10 feet, nine inches long.

OK - finally got these pics loaded... I think this is Bay on Alfalfa (glad we're out of it ;~D)... he's been amorous all morning. I don't know if you can picture what he's doing here, but he's heeling Cyn like a herd-dog. He's circling around her, biting at her flank. This can go on for a couple minutes, then when he actually tries to mount her, she kicks him off and it starts over again ;~D

She looks stationary, but when he gets her like this he physically leans into her with his shoulder and pushes her butt around in a circle. I've never seen him do this before.

Cool! Looks like really nice work. I'm sure there'd be a market for it among the Aussie set. According to Clinton Anderson, Aussie kids start playing with bullwhips when they're kids and learn to use 'em really well but most Americans will put their eye out or whip their ear off with one of those in short order. Me, I can't walk and chew gum, so I know I'd be a danger to myself and everybody within range. ;o)
